Adele took to Instagram and Twitter on Thursday night to debut her brand new single Easy On Me, her first music drop in six years. It is the first track to be released from her much-anticipated new album, 30.
At midnight the singer shared a link to watch the official video on YouTube as well as posting a snippet of it online.
“Easy On Me – Out Now,” she captioned the footage, which she shared with her 41.4 million Instagram followers.
Fans rushed to the comment section in their droves to share their thoughts on the new track, which gives an insight into the 33-year-old’s mindset following her recent divorce.
It features the lyrics: “You can’t deny how much I tried. I changed who I was to put you both first, but now I give up. Go easy on me.”
“Such an amazing song!!! After 6 years, welcome back!!!!” declared Instagram user ericllanos16.
“This song is worth the wait,” user ivpz8 added.
“SONG OF THE DECADE FOR SURE!!!” Agreed fan account adeleuniversal.
“QUEEN,” cams.or wrote, meanwhile, rudybundini said: “Adele for president please.”
“Ready to cry and drink wine while listening to her album!” clari_richard marked.
Sharing a similar thought, Clueless actress Alicia Silverstone said Adele’s music always makes her cry and this track was no different.
“Go easy on me @Adele… you always make me cry… #Adele #EasyOnMe,” she wrote on her Instagram account alongside a short video.
The post was accompanied by a clip which showed the actress stocking up on wine and whisky before listening to her emotional music.
“How I prepare for a new Adele song…” she amusingly added.
During a recent Instagram live, Adele revealed that the upcoming album will be about her divorce from husband Simon Konecki.
The couple, who share a nine-year-old son together, separated in 2019 after a year of marriage.
When asked what her upcoming album would be about during the Q&A session, the singer replied: “Divorce, babe, divorce.”
The Rolling in the Deep songstress said she wanted to make the album for her son so he can understand what she was going through when he’s older.
Adele opened up about the breakdown of her marriage during a chat to Vogue Magazine.
“It just wasn’t right for me anymore. I didn’t want to end up like a lot of other people I knew,” she told the publication.
“It wasn’t miserable miserable, but I would have been miserable had I not put myself first.
“But, yeah, nothing bad happened or anything like that.”
The London-born singer made history and the first person to star on the cover of both the American and British editions of the prestigious magazine.
