Pro-athletes and top chefs joined forces over cocktails and cuisine to raise money for the enCourage Kids Foundation.
TAO Group chef and partner Ralph Scamardella teamed up with NBA legends John Starks and Charles Smith as well as NFL stars Brent QVale, Erik Coleman, Howard Cross, Tony Richardson, and more at the Serving Up Smiles tasting event at Chelsea Piers on Tuesday night.
Chefs from hotspots Bagatelle, Beauty & Essex, Ben & Jack’s Steakhouse, Butter, Serendipity 3, Tao Group, Osteria Morini, and more served up small bites for attendees to nosh on as they bid on prizes to raise money for children with medical challenges and their families.
“I’m so excited to have people here that are invested in the health and wellbeing of sick children,” the foundation president Michele Hall told Page Six. “Three million children get hospitalized each year and we really want to be able to touch everyone and we started here in New York City and we’re predominantly in the tri-state area but it’s become really necessary for us to take our show on the road and try to expand across the country.”
She added, “If you can heal the entire family, and you can make them feel good, and you can help them to set aside those worries, we think it goes a long way towards physically healing.”
