Donald Trump Sues Twitter, Facebook and Google Over ‘Shameful’ Censorship

The former president declares that he has filed class-action lawsuits against the tech giants and their CEOs Jack Dorsey, Mark Zuckerber and Sundar Pichai, alleging that he has been silenced.

AceShowbizDonald Trump has launched legal action against Twitter, Facebook and Google. Having been blocked from those platforms in the wake of the Capitol riot, the former president decided to sue the tech giants and their CEOs over their “shameful” censorship.

The 75-year-old filed the lawsuits on Wednesday, July 7. In a news conference at his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey, he declared, “Today, in conjunction with the America First Policy Institute, I’m filing as the lead representative a major class action lawsuit against the big tech giants, including Facebook, Google and Twitter, as well as their CEOs, Mark Zuckerber, Sundar Pichai and Jack Dorsey.”

“We’re asking the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida to order an immediate halt to social media companies, illegal, shameful censorship of the American people. And that’s exactly what they are doing,” the politician added. “We’re demanding an end to the chateau, banning, a stop the silencing… blacklisting, banishing and cancelling that you know so well.”

“We’re going to hold big tech very accountable,” the father of Ivanka Trump went on stressing. “If they can do it to me, they can do it to anyone.”

Trump is seeking court’s orders to restore his social media accounts along with unspecified punitive damages. He also urges a judge to invalidate Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act, which protects social media platforms from lawsuits accusing them of unfairly removing posts or accounts, among other legal challenges.

Trump has been permanently banned from Twitter after he defended those who stormed the Capitol Building ahead of Electoral College votes on January 6. Calling the rioters “very special,” he tweeted, “I know you’re pained, I know you’re hurt. We had an election that was stolen from us. It was a landslide election, and everyone knows it. Even the other side. But you have to go home now. We have to have peace. We have to have law and order and respect our great people in law and order.”
