Fans are flocking to the Instagram accounts of comedian Drew Carey and his former fiancée Dr. Amie Harwick to lament Harwick’s killing at her Los Angeles home.
“So sorry to hear about your ex fiancé [sic] death my prayers and condolences go out to you,” one Instagram user commented on Carey’s last post — an Aug. 18, 2018 snap of the Space Needle tower in Seattle.
Another person wrote: “The news broke my heart for you. I’m so sorry.”
“Sorry for your loss Drew,” another comment read. “Sending you love and support.”
Social media users also commented on Harwick’s last Instagram post — made on Valentine’s Day — to express their condolences.
“I can’t believe your [sic] gone. Rest in peace you kind and beautiful soul. You didn’t deserve this,” one comment read.
Harwick’s final post is a message that says, “PLATONIC LOVE IS IMPORTANT TOO,” along with a caption about Valentine’s Day.
“I think that Valentine’s Day is a wonderful time to be mindful and redirect thoughts about love to platonic love,” part of the caption reads. “There is so much cultural emphasis on romantic love, but let’s be thankful for the authentic love that we give and receive to friends.”
Harwick, a well-known Hollywood sex therapist who was engaged to Carey in 2018 before the pair split, was killed early Saturday at her Hollywood Hills home by her ex-boyfriend, according to police.
At around 1:15 a.m. officers responded to a radio call of a woman screaming on Mound Street and were met by Harwick’s roommate on the street, who told cops that Harwick was being assaulted inside.
Cops found a mortally wounded Harwick under a third-story balcony with injuries consistent with a fall.
She was taken to an area hospital where she later died.
Her ex-boyfriend, Gareth Pursehouse, 41, was arrested on murder charges.
Pursehouse is being held on $2 million bail, according to county jail records.
Harwick and Pursehouse had reportedly recently broken up.
Detectives learned that Harwick recently expressed fear about a former boyfriend and filed a restraining order against him, but that restraining order had expired.
