Monty Don, 65, is the much-beloved presenter in charge of Gardeners’ World on BBC Two. Given his popularity, one fan of the broadcaster was keen to know whether he was available to send videos to his followers as well.
The viewer in question dropped Monty a note asking: “@TheMontyDon Are you on Cameo or anything like that?”
The gardening presenter, who often interacts with his fans on social media, replied asking what Cameo was.
“It’s a way that fans can get personalised videos from people. Thanks for getting back to me,” penned the follower.
However, it wasn’t good news when Monty replied as he admitted he doesn’t “do that sort of thing” due to time constraints.
Monty wrote: “No, I don’t do that sort of thing. Only 24 hrs in a day…”
His fan was very understanding, replying: “That is more than understandable. Hope you have a great evening.”
Cameo is a platform that allows people to pay their favourite stars for personalised video messages.
Plenty of familiar faces appear on the app and are available to commission for a video.
This includes Ben Fogle, Paul Chuckle, Mike Bushell and Ore Oduba.
As Monty’s reply suggested, the presenter always has a lot on his plate.
As well as hosting Gardeners’ World and filming for that, he also takes part in podcasts.
Recently, he also revealed he was recording the audiobook for his latest book as well.
Elsewhere, Monty had a famous fan asking him for some advice on his Instagram page.
Comedian Miranda Hart responded to the presenter’s picture of an Eremurus he posted earlier this week.
He had captioned his image: “Eremurus rising up through the grasses.”
However, Miranda admitted she was “finding it hard” as a gardening newbie to work out which plants were which.
Underneath the picture, she penned: “As a newbie to gardening I am finding it hard to distinguish between lupins, delphiniums and now you have thrown this into the mix !!”
Monty will not be back presenting a new episode of Gardeners’ World tonight at 8pm on BBC Two.
This is because Adam Frost will be stepping into his shoes once again.
He’ll be joined by Joe Swift and Frances Tophill in the new episode as he gives advice on laying turf and planting succulents.
Monty is not expected back on the show until July 9 as he takes a few weeks away as a break.
