Kanye West has confirmed his new album Donda will be released on Friday following his emotionally-charged appearance at his campaign rally last weekend.
The Jesus Walks rapper held his first presidential campaign event in South Carolina on Sunday after announcing his plans to run for US president, and broke down in tears as he revealed he and wife Kim Kardashian considered aborting their eldest daughter North.
In his first tweets since the event, Kanye stated: ‘Ima focus on the music now. DONDA coming this Friday.’
He then shared the album’s tracklist which features song titles like Stay On Em, I Know God Breathed On This, Keep My Spirit Alive, Praise God, Lord I Need You and Space X – Alien, the latter of which is likely an ode to his good friend Elon Musk who founded Space X.
Kanye, 43, is now a gospel artist after turning to religion and previously said he would never make rap music again.
It comes just hours after Kanye claimed he and Kim considered aborting their daughter North when the reality star fell pregnant in 2012.
My mum saved my life. My Dad wanted to abort me… My mum saved my life, there would have been no Kanye West because my dad was too busy,’ Kanye told the audience.
Overwhelmed with tears, he added: ‘I almost killed my daughter.’
Recalling the moment he and Kim thought about abortion, Kanye explained: ‘In the Bible, it says, “Thou shall not kill”. I remember that my girlfriend called me screaming and crying, and I was just thinking, because at that time I was a rapper I was out there, [had] different girlfriends and everything… and she said, “I’m pregnant”. And I said, “Yes!” And then I said, “Uh oh”.
‘She was crying… and for one month and two months and three months, we talked about her not having this child. She had the pills in her hand.’ He continued: ‘I’m in the apartment where my wife was actually robbed, and I have my laptop up and I have all of my creative ideas, I’ve got my shoes, I’ve got my next song cover… and the screen went black and white. And God said, “If you f**k with my vision I’m gonna f**k with yours”.
And I called my wife and she said, “We’re gonna have this baby”, and I said “We’re gonna have this child”.’
Kanye announced his plans to run for president earlier in July and hopes either Jay Z or Wyoming preacher Michelle Tidball agrees to be his running mate.
