Louise Minchin, 52, and her co-star Dan Walker, 44, fronted BBC Breakfast today. It seemingly appeared that the latter may have been struggling with the Monday Blues after he suffered an awkward blunder.

Louise took a cheeky swipe at her colleague after the presenter was forced to finish his sentence after a wording mix-up.

It comes after Dan was speaking to NHS medical professional Dr Helen Wall, who was helping out the roll-out of the vaccination programme in Bolton.

The expert discussed the recent rise of the coronavirus cases in the area as Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the majority of those in hospital in Bolton – a hotspot for the Indian variant – were unvaccinated.

As he wrapped up the interview, Dan commented: “Okay, Dr Helen Wall, appreciate you abiding, not abiding by, what’s the word?

“Dr Helen Wall, thank you for your time.”

Turning towards his co-star, Louise, who let out a sigh, she offered some enlightenment before urging her colleague to have a coffee.

Louise remarked: “I don’t know, Dan. I can’t be in your head the whole time. ‘Bearing with?'”

Dan replied: “Yes, that’s the word! I don’t know why, it’s one of those Monday morning things, the words I need are not quite there.”

“You know what the answer is, I know you will not accept this but the answer is coffee,” Louise urged.

The pair giggled, as Dan exclaimed: “Is that what I need? I am going to keep it simple – Good morning Sally!”

Viewers were quick to point out the Breakfast host’s cheeky jibe, as they flocked to social media.

One wrote: “Quote of the day – ‘I can’t be in your head the whole time Dan.'”

Louise responded adding laughing-face emojis.

“Loving your comment this morning #Louiseminchin, ‘Dan, I can’t be in your head all the time!'”

To which the Breakfast host commented: “Thank goodness.”

Meanwhile, the broadcaster took to the micro-blogging site and revealed she had returned her trophy to golf-enthusiast Dan, as she asked for some advice.

In view of her 207,000 followers, the presenter posted her usual morning selfie with her golf-enthusiast co-star.

Louise captioned the post: “Good morning, after a year and a half I have handed my golf trophy back to @mrdanwalker and am wondering whether I should try and defend my title!”

Fans urged the star to take on the challenge, as one penned: “You must defend your title! Come on Louise, you can do it!!!”

Another quipped: “No, just keep the bragging rights.”

While a third simply added: “Defend!”

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One at 6am.
