Meghan Markle And Oprah’s Relationship Is Raising Eyebrows

While Oprah and Meghan Markle make sense as good friends today, at the time of her nuptials to Prince Harry, the two had only met in person once, the Daily Mail reports. The outlet contends that the legendary talk show host and entrepreneurial mega-star nabbed an invite to the wedding, along with a highly-coveted seat amongst the royal family, seemingly out of nowhere. At the time, those close to the couple kept their questions to themselves, but now the Daily Mail explains the interesting details of the relationship between the two women.

Today, their friendship has struck many as more of a business partnership. Prior to the wedding, Gayle King facilitated a phone call between Winfrey and Markle in which the TV host would serve as a mentor to the now-royal Meghan. Since securing an invitation to the wedding of the year, the new mentorship seems to have spilled into their business dealings. Winfrey has promoted the Duchess’ vegan coffee line on her Instagram and met up with Markle’s mother for a yoga session, the Daily Mail reports.

Recently, the media mogul is rumored to have made way for Prince Harry’s deal with Apple TV. In return for Oprah’s patronage, it appears that the two have committed to an exclusive interview on her channels. The Daily Mail reports that the royal couple and Winfrey are currently filming Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special, debuting their first joint interview since their engagement.

Oprah is set to interview the pair on CBS

Now that Oprah calls herself a neighbor to the nearby royal couple, the exclusive TV special will feature some personal details that the trio has shared. The 90-minute segment will go live on March 7, People reports. In a statement, CBS said, “Winfrey will speak with Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, in a wide-ranging interview, covering everything from stepping into life as a royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to how she is handling life under intense public pressure” (via WVIR-TV). The statement continues, “Later, the two are joined by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family.”

The interview adds to the list of growing partnerships between the pair, according to People. After endorsing the coffee company Markle invested in, as well as working with Prince Harry on the upcoming mental health docuseries airing on AppleTV, Oprah has certainly lent her name to the Sussexes’ endeavors as they continue their transition out of the royal family.

The news comes on the heels of the couple’s announcement that they are expecting their second child, as well as working on massive deals with Spotify and Netflix. While their friendship with Oprah certainly has all of the makings of a superstar business partnership, it appears that whatever relationship that they have is benefitting fans all over the globe with greater access to the royal couple.
