Michelle Visage: ‘I don’t care’ Star opens up on feeling ‘uncomfortable’ in Strictly 2019

Michelle Visage, 51, has revealed she has no plans to flash the flesh on the dance floor with outfits which highlight her midriff, because of scars left from two caesarean sections. The Strictly Come Dancing contestant, who is partnered with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice, 28, in the competition, has put her foot down on wearing any glitzy costumes which showcase her stomach. The RuPaul Drag Race star, who has two daughters Lillie, 19, and Lola, 17, with husband David Case, said her mid-section “will never be the same”. Speaking candidly to The Mirror, the TV personality mused: “I’ve had two C-sections so my stomach is never going to look like it did when I was 21 and I’m not really comfortable with that.”

No one dictates what I do or don’t do so if I want to show some flesh, I will

While the Strictly contestant has worn sleeveless gowns, which she admits she “doesn’t love”, she added “no one dictates” to her what she can or can’t do.

“I’ve even got my arms out which I don’t love but at this point I don’t care. This is for me. I don’t care but I’m not comfortable with my stomach,” she told the publication.

“No one dictates what I do or don’t do so if I want to show some flesh, I will.”

The TV personality has won viewers over with her routines on the BBC show alongside her dance partner Giovanni, winning rave reviews from the judging panel.

And due to the intense rehearsals, the New Jersey native admitted her “body is changing” after training eight hours a day.

“Weight just falls off without even trying because imagine doing cardio for eight hours a day?” Michelle explained.

“But I am not really doing it for that. I’m doing it for myself to prove to myself at 51 I can still do new things. I want to set that example for my daughters and it’s all about that and learning how to dance.”

Meanwhile, Michelle has opened up about her unique relationship with ballroom professional Giovanni.

The mother-of-two admitted the pair have a “great personal relationship” but often “butt-heads” when working together.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, she said: “We have a great relationship, our working relationship is different to our personal relationship.

“Our personal relationship is great, but our working relationship is full on so there’s a lot of head-butting, but it’s us.”

Her comments come just after Michelle accidentally head butted Giovanni during their Salsa dance in last week’s episode of Strictly.

During their energetic routine, the star’s forehead clashed with the Italian hunk.

Fans flocked to comment on the incident, with one person writing: “Good energy and lovely music. Bar the head bump, I quite liked it but not as much as last week #Michelle #Strictly.”

Another person added: “Yaass Michelle!! Don’t let the mishap get you down as that salsa was sizzling hot!”(sic)

Despite the minor blunder, the dancing duo scored an impressive 31 out of 40 points.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight on BBC One at 6.40pm.
