He hasn't been able to see his parents due to Australia's strict ban on most international travel, and now Peter Andre has revealed he contacted the embassy to see if he could be reunited with them.

The dad-of-four, who shared an adorable festive video of his children, said he spoke to the Australian embassy in a last ditch attempt to see his folks.

Opening up about his heartbreak in his column for new! Magazine, the reality star said: "My number one priority this year is to go and see my mum and dad in Australia, as I miss them too much.

"I'm anxiously awaiting the borders opening as it's been upsetting not seeing them, especially as my mum isn't very well."

The 47 year old went on to explain that he hoped he could fly to Australia because of his mum's ill health, but he was denied the right to because it wasn't deemed enough of an emergency.

"I actually contacted the Australian Embassy because there are special circumstances whereby family members can fly over, but sadly I don't fit the criteria," Peter divulged.

In December, the Australian government extended it's ban on international travel, with people only being able to exit the country for particular reasons.

Just last month, the musician shared his fears that he won't be able to see his parents until 2022.

He continued: "It really worries me because mum and dad are in their late 80s.

"When they were in their 40s and I was a teenager, not seeing them for a year, you just knew you'd see them a year later and they'd be fine."

Peter was born in London in 1973, but six years later the family relocated to Sydney, before moving to the Gold Coast when he was nine.
