Penny Lancaster, 50, told Loose Women viewers that she is suffering with symptoms of the menopause, such as hot flushes and brain fog. The model opened up about her experience, before revealing that her husband Sir Rod Stewart often steps in to lend a hand when she is struggling.

Penny made her admission while talking about sleep, or the lack thereof, after having a baby in Monday’s show.

The mum-of-two said that even though her children were now that little bit older, she still has problems sleeping.

The Loose Women star shares sons Alastair, 15, and Aiden, 10, with the 76-year-old musician.

“And now I’m back in that whole circle. Now in the menopause I’m awake all the time and it is torture,” she told the panel.

Listing her symptoms, Penny continued: “I’ve got complete brain fog. I get anxiety. I’m forgetful more than ever and I’ve adopted my fan now.

“I even take it to restaurants, it’s a saviour!”

She went on to say that her overall temperament had been affected as well, admitting that she was not as laid back as she used to be.

Penny then praised her family for their support.

“Rod’s really good, he’ll say to the boys, ‘Be patient with mummy’.

“…My little one, he’ll say, ‘Mummy’s hot,’ so he’ll pull the door back and forth to make a breeze for me,” she explained earlier in the week.

Her ITV co-stars advised her to look into HRT (hormone replacement therapy).

Penny previously revealed that during lockdown, she’d had a little meltdown because of her hormones when her children were arguing over the dinner that she had lovingly made.

“It was a panic-attack type of meltdown, during lockdown.

Usually I have a good threshold when it comes to being patient with people. That went out the window. I wasn’t in control and I just broke.

“The kids were arguing. I’d done these individual chicken pies and one of them got thrown across the kitchen.

“I screamed, then I cried. The boys came running over to comfort me and I apologised,” she told The Sun last year.

Hoping there will be no more tears in the kitchen, Penny is taking part in the new series of Celebrity MasterChef.

Despite the chicken pie incident, the star, who normally has a personal chef, said she had enjoyed cooking for her family during the pandemic.

Penny Lancaster will appear on Celebrity MasterChef tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
