Slipknot will be joined by Korn, Anthrax and more at the Knotfest Japan festival.
The two-day event is scheduled to take place on March 20-21, 2020 at the Makuhari Messe near Tokyo. Anthrax is set to perform on March 20, while Korn will perform on March 21.
According to Blabbermouth, the first-ever Knotfest took place seven years ago in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and moved two years later to San Bernardino, California. In 2016, Slipknot and Ozzy Osbourne teamed up for the first-ever Ozzfest Meets Knotfest.
“Knotfest started out of necessity and opportunity, chiefly a need in North America,” said the band’s longtime manager Cory Brennan. “There was Rock On The Range, but there weren’t any other heavy music destinations out there. They were all being hipster. There was nothing for rock bands in many parts of the U.S.”
“We went into areas where there was no competition, where no one was thinking about the fans there, and we did it,” he added.
Knotfest Japan will follow Slipknot’s recently announced 2020 European tour with Behemoth, which is scheduled for January and February.
