The Larkins star Sabrina Bartlett said she found getting her kit off “liberating” in Bridgerton, where she starred alongside on-screen lover Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey. While many may find sex scenes awkward to film, the 30-year-old said she felt “this wonderful unbridled, shameless exploration of sex that we haven’t seen before” during the show, which she found “so liberating”.

The actress also told Tatler Magazine that she had remained “really good friends” with her co-star and teased that they could both be returning to the drama.

Jonathan echoed her words as he recently revealed he also felt comfortable during the racy scenes.

He told Digital Spy: “You know what, it sort of felt like stunts and brilliantly so, because we had an intimacy coordinator, which is relatively new I think in the industry, and I can’t believe there was ever a time when they weren’t in place.

“Because of that, it was all incredibly safe and it became really fun.”

He went on to insist that knowing Sabrina helped with their racy scenes.

“We hit the ground running,” he added.

The actor also believes such scenes are educational and could show viewers the different ways to have sex.

For now, Sabrina has moved on from the intimate scenes as she is currently starring as Mariette in Darling Buds reboot The Larkins.

Her character is the eldest daughter of the family, who is admired by many men.

Mariette was previously played by Catherine Zeta-Jones in The Darling Buds of May.

Sabrina said she purposely didn’t watch any of the star’s scenes as she wanted to make the character her own.

She explained to The Sun: “I grew up in Kent riding horses with my big sister, so when I read the scripts I felt such a connection to the role and her environment, you know, riding horses and running around barefoot with my sister.

“And auditioning for it and reading for the role, I just felt I understood her world completely. And getting to do that on screen and being able to tell her story has been amazing.

“Talking of horses, there is a lot of horse riding on this job, which I’ve absolutely loved.”

Sabrina added she had taken up riding lessons beforehand to make her feel “safe and comfortable”.

The actress went on to praise screenwriter Simon Nye for creating her multi-dimensional character.

“She’s not afraid to speak her mind and she’s a robust girl who’s grown up lifting hay bales and mucking out the stables,” she added.

Sabrina appears in the drama alongside Bradley Walsh as Pa Larkin, Joanna Scanlan as Ma Larkin and Tony Gardner as Alec Normal.

Ahead of the role, she starred in The Passing Bells, Doctor Who and Game Of Thrones.

The Larkins continues tonight at 8pm on ITV.
