Southern Charm star Cameran Eubanks has managed to keep her marriage pretty private, despite starring in a reality TV show about Charleston socialites. Her anesthesiologist husband, Jason Wimberly, didn’t appear on the Bravo show until the Season 6 finale, which aired in the summer of 2019. “I wore him down,” Eubanks told Entertainment Tonight of his appearance.
Later on that year, in an interview with Us Weekly, it was clear Eubanks, whose name is synonymous with the Southern Charm franchise, was planning to appear in the show’s seventh season, and she teased that her hubby would have a larger presence on it. “I think you might see him again now that he’s more comfortable,” she said. But that all came to a halt when Eubanks announced her departure from the show on Instagram in May 2020, which she said had nothing to do with the cheating rumors involving her husband.
While we will on longer see this married duo on Southern Charm, there’s a lot we can learn about what married life is really like for the reality TV star and her doctor husband.
Southern Charm's Cameran Eubanks wed Jason Wimberly in 2014
Unlike most reality TV stars, Southern Charm‘s Cameran Eubanks kept the cameras away from her special day. In 2014, she wed Jason Wimberly in a private outdoor ceremony following the Season 1 premiere of Southern Charm (via Hollywood Life). According to Reality Tea, the venue was a historic plantation outside of Charleston, S.C.
It was quite the lavish affair, and one that surely would’ve made for great TV — from Eubanks’ simple yet regal wedding dress to the magical glass lights hanging from a giant tree down to the black-and-white checkered dance floor. But it doesn’t seem like Eubanks would have had it any other way. She took to Instagram on their fifth wedding anniversary with a photo of her smiling at the altar and holding hands with her groom. The caption read, “Smartest decision I ever made was marrying this wonderful man.” How romantic!
Southern Charm's Cameran Eubanks and her husband have managed to keep their marriage private… for the most part
Southern Charm’s Cameran Eubanks has never been shy about living her life on-camera, but the feeling isn’t necessarily mutual for hubby Jason Wimberly, who didn’t appear on the reality TV show until the Season 6 finale. Up until that point, all fans knew about the anesthesiologist was that he was married to Eubanks and how his voice sounded. Prior to his camera debut, Wimberly’s voice could be heard on phone calls with his wife. “No, he has zero desire to be on TV. I always joke that he is just a normal person and most normal people don’t want to be in the spotlight,” Eubanks told Bravo’s The Daily Dish in 2017. She added, “We all have a bit of an ego. Jason doesn’t have one…”
Wimberly still enjoys a level of celebrity status thanks to his wife. Speaking with The Daily Dish, Eubanks said Southern Charm fans often stop the pair if they see them out on the streets of Charleston, S.C. “They always say, ‘Oh, so you are the mystery husband!’ He is always so laid back and usually offers to take a picture if someone wants a photo,” she shared.
Cameran Eubanks' husband actually encouraged her to star in Southern Charm
It was thanks to Cameran Eubanks’ supportive husband, Jason Wimberly, that she decided to give Southern Charm a shot when fellow co-star and friend Whitney Sudler-Smith approached her about the show. “He’s very supportive,” Eubanks told Glamour about her husband, noting that he was “the one who pushed [her] to do the show.” Though Eubanks said yes, she had one stipulation prior to filming the first season. “When I agreed to do the show, I said I did not want my love life on national TV. I was in a serious relationship when we started, and then I got married. I kept that separate from the show,” she told the magazine, adding that “reality TV is not for everyone,” including her husband.
Eubanks wasn’t new to the reality TV world. In 2004, she starred in MTV’s The Real World: San Diego. Unlike Real World, Southern Charm didn’t require as much on-camera time, which gave Eubanks the privacy she wanted in her marriage. “On The Real World, you literally have a camera in your face 24/7 for six months. For Southern Charm, we shot three or four days a week,” she told Glamour.
How Cameran Eubanks reacted to rumors of her husband's infidelity
As much as Cameran Eubanks tried to keep her married life private, her celebrity status caught up to her. In May 2020, All About The Tea alleged that her husband, Jason Wimberly, had a two-year affair with makeup artist Rebecca Leigh Wash. This was reportedly according to a “ROCK solid source,” who said the pair traveled together and that he’d even met her family. Wash denied the rumors on Instagram, saying that she’s been “wrongfully accused of having a relationship” with Wimberly, claiming that she’s never even met him or Eubanks.
Southern Charm‘s Eubanks also addressed the “fake” rumor on Instagram in a two-page post, standing by her man and telling fans, “Please disregard any fabricated rumor. It’s a ploy for ratings and that’s it.” She added, “While upsetting, it sadly doesn’t surprise me as this is what reality televisions has come to nowadays and a large reason why I kept my marriage off the air.” Despite the rumors, Eubanks said the drama that comes from appearing on a reality TV show isn’t worth the big paycheck. “You must protect what is sacred to you,” she wrote in the post.
Cameran Eubanks was already planning to leave Southern Charm before infidelity rumors surfaced
Though Cameran Eubanks announced her departure from Southern Charm on the heels of the cheating rumors involving her husband, Jason Wimberly, she told fans on Instagram in May 2020 that it had nothing to do with her decision to leave the show. “My decision was made and given to Bravo months ago and had absolutely nothing to do with ridiculous and fake rumors about my marriage,” she wrote in a two-page post. Before that post, Eubanks had actually announced her departure casually in the comments section of a throwback pic she posted to Instagram, writing, “I will not be returning,” when a fan asked her when she’ll be back on camera (via People).
Eubanks’ decision inspired fellow cast members — and friends — to do the same ahead of the show’s seventh season. According to People, you won’t see Naomie Olindo and Chelsea Meissner in the seventh season. An insider told People, “Naomi and Chelsea, like Cam, are just tired of the reality TV drama and don’t want to live their lives this way” — even more so after a rumor circulated that Southern Charm star Kathryn Dennis might have started the cheating rumors, according to Us Weekly.
Southern Charm's Cameran Eubanks and her husband have dealt with media scrutiny before
Before Southern Charm, Jason Wimberly, Cameran Eubank’s husband, was arrested for driving under the influence in 2012, as reported by Radar Online. However, this news didn’t break until years later in 2017, after Eubanks found success on Bravo’s hit reality TV show Southern Charm. According to Radar Online, Wimberly was pulled over by police for reckless driving after turning into a fast food joint’s parking lot and driving over a curb, nearly hitting the restaurant’s sign.
Wimberly performed poorly during field sobriety tests and refused a breathalyzer test twice, Radar Online reported based on police records. Wimberly first pleaded not guilty and later no contest to reckless driving, paying nearly $900 in fees. While Southern Charm’s Cameran Eubanks has gone above and beyond to protect her husband from everything to do with her TV life, even she couldn’t protect him from the tabloids.
Southern Charm star Cameran Eubanks and her husband share a daughter
Cameran Eubanks and Jason Wimberly share a sweet baby girl named Palmer Corrine Wimberly. The adorable kiddo is a regular on her mom’s Instagram feed, where she and Eubanks are sometimes seen posing in cute matching dresses. Palmer was born in November 2017, three years after Eubanks and Wimberly wed in a private ceremony near Charleston, S.C. Following the birth, the new mom took to Instagram to share a couple of photos of the cute newborn with fans. In the caption of the post, she wrote, “Wildest experience of my life! Jason is recovering and doing well.”
Before Palmer came into the world, the happy duo revealed the news they were expecting on Instagram by sharing a photo of themselves holding ultrasound pics and a big, pink balloon. The news came after Eubanks admitted in the third season of Southern Charm that she was scared of having kids. “Everybody I talk to, they say your life will change,” she told a therapist, adding, “And I think, ‘But I love my life. I don’t want it to change.'” It’s obvious she’s loving life even more now with Palmer in the world, as she’s documented her pregnancy and her mom journey on Southern Charm.
Southern Charm's Cameran Eubanks and her husband are also dog parents
As if their hands aren’t full enough already with their daughter, Palmer, Cameran Eubanks and Jason Wimberly are also dog parents to Elvis. The couple adopted Elvis from their neighbors who gifted the 16-year-old pup to the family before moving out-of-state so he could live out his “golden years” — as Eubanks put it on Instagram – with the Wimberly family, specifically Jason Wimberly.
In an interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish podcast, the Southern Charm star said her husband formed a strong connection to the neighbors’ pup, so much so that even the neighbors realized just how much heartbreak it would cause if they separated the two. When adopting Elvis, Eubanks posted a video on Instagram, showing her embracing Elvis and dancing with him to disco music inside their home. It’s safe to say Elvis is no doubt living his best life with this family, even taking part in their family photos. Too cute for words!
Southern Charm's Cameran Eubanks prioritizes her family and her marriage
Southern Charm star Cameran Eubanks is a master juggler. Not only is she a mom, but she’s also a wife, real estate agent, TV star, and Charleston socialite. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, before Season 6 aired, Eubanks got real about motherhood, and she shared she finds it’s really impossible to have it all as a mom, saying, “You just have to find balance.”
In the earlier seasons of Southern Charm, Eubanks was often seen working hard hard as a real estate agent in Charleston. Her career was basically her baby until she had daughter Palmer. “With real estate, I had to put it on the back burner to take care of Palmer, because I was so crazy about leaving her in the care of anybody else and it’s very hard, it’s very hard to have to make a choice as to what is more important to you,” she told ET. Hence, the balancing.
But with motherhood, she learned what’s really important, and Southern Charm drama wasn’t a priority. “I think being a mom and having a child, I’ve really learned what my priorities are, so I don’t have time for bulls**t,” she said.
Cameran Eubanks and her family live in a charming country home
Southern Charm star Cameran Eubanks and Jason Wimberly are raising their daughter, Palmer, in a quintessentially Charleston colonial-style home. The magazine-worthy house features a deck with stairs that lead down to the ground level and overlooks the water and their property’s dock, boat, and pier head, Bravo reported. Eubanks showed off the dreamy backyard on her Instagram page as it served as the backdrop for a daddy-daughter picnic between Jason Wimberly and their daughter.
Eubanks previously opened up their cozy home to Bravo. She let fans in on her traditional decor and the regal fireplace they barely use because of Charleston’s mild winters. “We will fire this up when it gets to be like 65 degrees if you can believe that,” she said. She also gave a tour of her master bedroom, her large closet, and the kitchen, which includes a breakfast nook. “I’m not in here a lot because I really don’t cook,” Eubanks said. She revealed she uses the microwave “a lot.”
Cameran Eubanks' husband is close friends with Southern Charm's cast
When the cameras aren’t rolling, Jason Wimberly regularly hangs out with his wife and some of the Southern Charm crew. And the show’s matriarch, Patricia Altschul, seems to approve of him. Fans got to see a glimpse of their friendship on Instagram when Altschul commented on a photo of Cameran Eubanks and her husband dressed up, with the caption (via Bravo’s The Daily Dish), “Ma and Pa got shined up. (still in bed by 10).” Altschul had this to say: “Gorgeous… and Cameran’s not so bad either.”
Eubanks told Bravo’s The Daily Dish that while her hubby prefers life away from the cameras, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t love the crew and support the show. “He just doesn’t want to be on camera, which I don’t blame him. I get it. Not everybody’s built for reality television,” Eubanks said. Notably, Wimberly is close with Southern Charm star Shep Rose. Rose told Bravo’s The Daily Dish that he’s “one of the smartest, most thoughtful guys,” adding, “He reminds me of my dad, honestly. He’s a good listener and he knows a lot about a lot — and I really like Jason, a whole lot.”
Cameran Eubanks and her husband still manage to keep romance alive after years of marriage
Despite their busy schedules, these parents of one (and a dog) make it a point to do date nights. And while Southern Charm star Cameran Eubanks loves to document her unfiltered home life on Instagram, she also makes sure to add in those cute — albeit rare — shots of her and Jason Wimberly dressed to the nines and out on the town at places like the Carolina Yacht Club.
For her 36th birthday dinner in 2019, the married couple stepped out — fashionable as always — to grab dinner, and, of course, Eubanks took it as an opportunity to share a cute picture of the two on Instagram. Although it seemed like the couple would party all night, Eubanks made it clear that wasn’t the case with the caption: “This is 36! Dinner reservation at 5:30 because being in bed by 8 is the best present ever for this granny.”
But sometimes their outings aren’t as glamorous. Eubanks revealed to Bravo’s The Daily Dish that she and her husband like going to Cracker Barrel on Valentine’s Day every year, saying, “I’m a cheap date.” Whatever works!
Cameran Eubanks and her husband live pretty laidback lives
Despite the glitz and glamour of high society Charleston, S.C., Cameran Eubanks lives a pretty chill life with daughter Palmer, dog Elvis, and husband Jason Wimberly. “My life is pretty boring. I like it that way,” the Southern Charm star told Bravo’s The Daily Dish. “Filming the show is so nuts that when the cameras are gone I turn into somewhat of a recluse. In my spare time this week I’ve been cleaning my baseboards. Thrilling, I know.”
Chasing after Palmer is one of the mom’s main activities at home nowadays. Eubanks told Parade she thinks “motherhood is sometimes over-glamorized,” but it happens to be “the hardest and at the same time most wonderful thing you will ever do as a woman.” She told the magazine that being tired and overwhelmed is all part of being a mom. Still, despite any exhaustion she’s felt, it’s clear she’s enjoyed the little bonding moments she’s had with Palmer.
Southern Charm's Cameran Eubanks and her husband disagree when it comes to having more kids
Cameran Eubanks doesn’t see more kids in her future, but her husband, Jason Wimberly, isn’t necessarily on board with that idea. “I think he would love to have a boy,” the Southern Charm star told People in 2019. But Eubanks isn’t sure if she can handle another child. “Everyone says like, ‘Oh well don’t you want to give her a sibling?’ And I’m like, ‘I want to give her a sane mother,'” Eubanks stated. She shared, “I have the self-awareness to know that I can be a really good mother to one, not sure if I could be a really good mother to more than one.”
While Wimberly would like another kid, Eubanks said he “supports” her decision. She noted, “He’s the love of my life.”
A couple of years before bringing Palmer into the world in 2017, Eubanks expressed her uncertainty over having kids to Wetpaint in 2015. “Before we got engaged, I sat down with him [Jason] and said, I have no desire to have a child right now, there might be a big possibility I might never want to have a child…” Things have clearly changed since then.
