TOWIE’s Pete Wicks ‘pulls out of filming in Dominican Republic’ after beloved nan dies

Pete Wicks has reportedly pulled out of filming TOWIE in the Dominican Republic special after the death of his nan Doreen, whom the star was really close to.

The 33 year old Essex-born reality TV star had been included in the ITVBe show's instalments in the Caribbean country, but according to his ex-girlfriend Ella Wise, opted to take some time off work instead.

Pete has reportedly been devastated by the loss of his beloved grandmother.

The star shared the news with a black and white snap of him holding her hand in her hospital bed on Instagram, which also showed he had Doreen's name tattooed on his hand.

Ella, who is filming with the rest of the cast, revealed she had checked in with Pet to see how he was doing with the heartbreaking news.

"I messaged him and wished him my love," Ella told The Sun. "I think he is doing ok."

Confirming that Pete couldn't have travelled over to the Dominican Republic given the timing, Ella added: "It would have been hard for him to be here."

OK! has contacted a representative for ITV for comment.

Sharing photos of Doreen on his Instagram page, Pete also posted one of his nan looking happy and smiling next to a Christmas tree.

"I hope you knew how much you were loved," the TOWIE star told his "best friend" going on to gush over her "strength and resilience" as a woman.

"Nan, Despite knowing this time would always come it doesn’t make it any easier," Pete began in the caption.

"It’s taken me days not knowing what to say because no words will ever be able to describe what you meant to me. My heart is broken and I have never felt so lost.

"I have been blessed to have you as my nan but more importantly to have you as my best friend."

The reality star went on to say he was certain that the good in his character has come from Doreen.

"The strength, resilience, love, empathy and compassion you have shown throughout your life is a lesson to us all and without doubt the only good parts of me come from you," he continued.

"I hope you knew how much you were loved. Sleep well and be at peace, no one deserves it more. I love you," Pete added.

Fellow co-stars shared their love for the TOWIE favourite in the comments, with Georgia Kousoulou writing: "So sorry for your loss Pete."

"So sorry for your loss babe xxx," Danielle Armstrong posted.
