Stunt doubles deserve a lot more credit than they’re usually given. After all, they’re the ones performing the crazy-difficult stunts when the star actors aren’t able. And yet, the star actors usually get all the glory.
However, there are some who realize the injustice of it all. When Brie Larson won the MTV Movie Award for Best Fight, she actually brought her stunt doubles from Captain Marvel on stage to help her accept the award. How awesome is that?
We took a closer look into the Captain Marvel stuntwomen and were surprised to learn what beautiful and amazingly talented people they are- and completely worthy of the award.

Larson’s character in Captain Marvel has some pretty intense fight scenes. To help her make those stunts look easy, she actually has two body doubles: Renae Moneymaker and Joanna Bennett. Both women were invited on stage when Larson won the MTV Movie award, and she made sure the audience knew what a big role they played.
“I wanted to take this moment to really say thank you to the two women who are standing here beside me,” Larson said during her acceptance speech. “These are the women that trained me and were also the stunt doubles for Captain Marvel. I could not have made this film without them. They are really the baseline of who she is. They are the living embodiment of Captain Marvel.“
Moneymaker and Bennett are both experienced and accomplished in the world of stunts. According to IMDb, Moneymaker has worked on over 40 films, while Bennett has over 60 to her credit. And yet, when Larson thanked them on stage, it was probably the first time either one had received widespread attention for their hard work.
Fans think Joanna Bennett looks like Katie Cassidy

After the MTV Awards, Bennett received even more attention for her work on Captain Marvel from a Reddit thread which discussed her role. Unfortunately, Moneymaker was left out of the conversation, but fans had some interesting comments about Bennett.
“Brie Larson’s double kinda looks like Katie Cassidy,” one fan wrote.
Others quickly agreed with comments like, “I was JUST about to post the same thing!” and “Yeah, especially now she has shorter hair.”
Katie Cassidy is an actress who has played in several notable TV series, including Supernatural, Harper’s Island, Melrose Place, and Gossip Girl. But she’s most recognized for her role as Laurel Lance in the CW network, superhero-drama, Arrow. Cassidy is also the daughter of The Partridge Family‘s David Cassidy.
With the same short blonde hair, it’s not surprising that Bennett would be compared to Cassidy. Although, as far as we could tell, Bennet has never done a stunt for Cassidy. Perhaps someone should bring that up?
Joanna Bennett is just as beautiful as an actress
In addition to being compared to a beautiful actress, fans in the Reddit thread also mentioned Bennett’s beauty.
“Awkward moment when your body double looks better than you,” one person wrote.
Another chimed in with: “Captain Marvel’s double looks kinda cute[r] than the real one.”
“She [is] so damn cuuute,” another fan observed.
You would have to be fairly attractive in order to stand in for an actress. But according to these fans, Bennett can hold her own against anyone in Hollywood.
Of course, it’s not just her looks that Bennett’s working with. She’s not a regular actress, and she’s required to some crazy stunts. So, it’s no surprise that she spends a lot of time in the gym. During an interview with Stylist, Bennett explained how she got into the business and all the years of hard training that it took.
“I got the job through being a gymnast,” Bennett said. There was a gymnastics TV show filming when I graduated and they were looking for doubles. I got the job and I was hooked. I spent years learning how to fight, doing boxing, judo and jiu-jitsu. My big break was in 2013 when I doubled for Hailee Steinfeld in Barely Lethal.”
Being a stunt double requires a lot of hard work. It’s like being an actress, only way more physically intense. As we’ve seen with Bennett, stunt doubles can be beautiful, and incredibly talented. We think they deserve way more credit than they’re currently getting.
