Andrea Bocelli has covered Elvis Presley a couple of times in recent years with Love Me Tender and Can’t Help Falling In Love. But did you know his son Matteo Bocelli, who has inherited his father’s incredible vocals, has sung The King’s track live too? Back in 2018, Andrea and his son were performing their Fall On Me song around the world, while around the same time Matteo performed a duet of Can’t Help Falling In Love with Slovenian singer Nuška Drašček.

Matteo and Nuška sang their Elvis duet at a special concert in Solvenia’s Postojna Cave, as captured on the country’s TV station RTVSLO.

The talented young man kicked off his beautiful rendition of Can’t Help Falling In Love solo before he was joined for the duet by the Slovenian singer.

His father Andrea famously covered the Elvis track from 1961 movie Blue Hawaii in a live performance captured in Las Vegas with David Foster on the piano.

His version, which received a standing ovation, features on the Italian tenor’s 2006 album Amore.

The melody for Can’t Help Falling In Love is based on Plaisir d’amour, a well known French love song composed in 1784 by Jean-Paul-Égide Martini.

Originally the track was written for a female singer and was called Can’t Help Falling In Love With Him.

This is why the first and third lines when sung by Elvis and Bocelli ended with the words “in” and “sin”.

The 62-year-old has also sung The King’s Love Me Tender, which shared the same name of his first movie in 1956.

Meanwhile, Matteo has been busy recording his debut solo album for release later this year.

This follows his solo debut track on the 2020 album Disney Goes Classical, in which Matteo sings Elton John’s Can You Feel The Love Tonight from The Lion King.

The 23-year-old recently updated on his upcoming solo record via his official Instagram account.

The rising star wrote: “It’s been two years since my debut at the most important music festival in Italy.”

On his debut solo album, he teased during the Q&A video: “We’re composing a lot of songs that we hope to share with you very soon.

“I’m writing a lot of new music. It’s a little bit of a surprise I can tell you that.”
