Big Fat Gypsy wedding’s Paddy Doherty seriously ill in hospital with coronavirus

Celebrity Big Brother star Paddy Doherty is seriously ill in hospital with "double pneumonia" and coronavirus.

The My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding regular, 61, has been placed on oxygen by doctors to help him fight the illnesses.

The news was confirmed in Facebook posts from Paddy's son Simey and his wife Roseanne.

Simey Doherty wrote: "Can everybody please keep my father in prayer as I was just speaking to him and he has got double pneumonia also claw seen in the lungs and tested positive for Covid. He’s also on oxygen. Keep my father in prayer. [sic]"

Meanwhile, his wife Roseanne Doherty added: "Please will everything pray for my Paddy he has been taken in to hospital.

"He is not very well. [sic]"

Patrick is British former bare-knuckle boxer and was one of the Irish Travellers interviewed for the documentary My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.

He won Celebrity Big Brother 8 and went on to appear in When Paddy Met Sally in January 2012 and on Celebrity Bainisteoir later that year.

In 2016 Paddy appeared in this Channel 5 series about Traveller life from the children's perspective. Paddy talked about the importance of staying on in education for his community.

It comes after twin brothers who starred in My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding hanged themselves from neighbouring trees back in 2018.

Billy and Joey Smith, 32, were found dead three days after Christmas, and just two weeks after their birthday, side by side in a forest in Sevenoaks, Kent, where they played as children.
