Coleen Rooney took to her social media pages today to blast Rebekah Vardy's Instagram account.
Wayne Rooney's wife accused Rebekah's Instagram page of leaking stories to The Sun newspaper.
Jamie Vardy's wife Rebekah has since denied the claims on Twitter.
So could Rebekah have been hacked?
Jo O’Reilly, Digital Privacy Advocate at ProPrivacy.com said: "Although many might doubt the sincerity of Rebekah Vardy's statement, it is entirely possible that her Instagram account has been compromised."
Manchester lad Dave says he gave Coleen Rooney idea to detect 'leaked stories'
Jo said hacking is usually undertaken "either by a cyber-criminal, or even just a disgruntled ex-employee."
She continued: "Rebekah stated that various people have had access to her account, and hinted that she might not have been updated her password securely when suspicions first arose.
"Anyone can fall victim to an account hack on social media – in August, Twitter founder Jack Dorcy was hacked on his own platform – and can be more lucrative for hackers to target those in the public eye, making them even more of a target.
Coleen Rooney vs. Rebekah Vardy
Addressing her 1.2million Twitter followers, today, Coleen wrote: "For a few years now someone who I trusted to follow me on my personal Instagram, account has been consistently informing The Sun newspaper of my private posts and stories.
"There has been so much information given to them about me, my friend and my family – all without my permission or knowledge.
"After a long time of trying to figure out who it could be, for various reasons, I had a suspicion."
"To try and prove this, I came up with an idea.
"I blocked everyone from viewing my Instagram stories except ONE account. (Those on my private account must have been wondering why I haven’t had stories on there for a while.)"
Over the past few months Coleen has turned detective and posted a series of false stories to her story to see if they would end up in The Sun.
On August 15 The Sun ran an exclusive story claiming Coleen travelled to Mexico to look into gender selection treatment in a bid to have a baby girl.
Coleen made headlines in the paper again on September 28 when the publication claimed Rooney was in talks to join Strictly next year to revive her TV career when Wayne returns to the UK.
The Sun also ran a story claiming the Rooney's £20m mansion was flooded in a storm Lorenzo washout.
Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy– What prompted suspicions about WAG's account?
Coleen, 33, continued: "Over the past five months I have posted a series of false stories to see if they made their way into the Sun newspaper.
"And you know what, they did! The story about gender selection in Mexico, the story about returning to TV and then the latest story about the basement flooding in my new house.
"It’s been tough keeping it to myself and not making any comment at all, especially when the stories have been leaked, however I had to. Now I know for certain which account/individual it’s come from."
Rebekah Vardy denies Coleen Rooney's claims her account has been leaking stories
"I have saved and screenshotted all the original stories which clearly show just one person viewed them. It’s Rebekah Vardy’s account."
Replying to Coleen’s tweet, Rebekah, 37, said: "As I have just said to you on the phone, I wish you had called me if you thought this.
"I never speak to anyone about you as various journalists who have asked me over the years can vouch for.
"If you thought this was happening you could have told me and I would have changed my passwords to see if it stopped. Over the years various people have had access to my Instagram and just this week I found I was following people I didn’t know and have never followed myself.
"I’m not being funny but I don’t need the money, what would I agin from selling stories on you?
"I liked you a lot Coleen and I’m so upset that you have chosen to do this, especially when I’m heavily pregnant.
"I’m disgusted that I even have to deny this. You should have called me first when this happened."
