Coleen Rooney has opened up about her marriage woes as she took the stand in her court case against Rebekah Vardy.
The mum-of-four stepped up to give her account of how she became suspicious of Vardy's motives for befriending her as day four of the hearing got underway.
Coleen claimed that she had started to wonder if Vardy was genuine because "she was not in my circle of friends" and allegedly often contacted her whenever she had difficulties in her private life.
She claimed: "It was always to try and get information out of me. It was often when there was something not nice going on in my personal life. I thought at first she was being genuinely nice.
"But towards the end I thought it was unusual that someone not that close to me would be constantly checking on me all the time."
During her questioning, Coleen revealed how on one particular occasion she was struggling due to personal issues between her and husband Wayne Rooney which had left their relationship on the rocks.
She explained: "There had been a situation. There had been some wrong-doing by my husband. I was in a vulnerable situation.
"I didn't know how my marriage was going to work out. What was going on with that relationship. We needed to try and work things out.''
Coleen, 36, then continued to describe how an article that came out at the time with an image of Wayne in bed with their children and suggesting he was back in their marital bed had added to her upset and affected their relationship.
She said: "I was spending a lot of time at my parents' house. My and Wayne were trying to figure out our relationship and see where things were going. But I didn't want the public to know that.
"I knew how quick the papers are to jump onto things. I hadn't settled on, 'this is it – we are getting back together?'"
Coleen also spoke of how she suffered chronic "homesickness" when she moved to America and Wayne was playing for Washington's DC United.
She said: "It was a terrible time for me. My friends and family mean the world to me. I cried every single night. I couldn't even FaceTime my parents. It was horrific."
Coleen then claimed her situation was made even worse when an alleged leak about a car crash caused her further anguish because people started messaging her to see if she was ok and it had only been a minor scrape.
She continued: "I'm not used to driving on that side of the road. It was in America. There was no crash. It gave me the anger to put it out to the public. I was annoyed. I was fuming."
