James Argent shares insight into weight transformation one-year post-surgery

The Only Way Is Essex star James Argent has revealed his impressive weight loss after his gastric sleeve surgery.

The reality star has lost an incredible 14 stone since the operation and branded it the “best decision he’s ever made,” a year after the surgery.

The 34-year-old has shared pictures with his loyal fans on Instagram, taken before and after his life-changing operation.

He posted the pictures for his 845,000 followers, in which he can be seen looking noticeably slimmer than before.

In the first picture, Arg can be seen laying in a hospital bed, wearing a large white hospital gown as he puts his thumbs up for the camera.

Around him, wires, monitors and equipment fill the room as he cracks a smile.

He captioned the post with: “Before. Celebrating my one year surgery anniversary. Thanks to Transform Hospital Group for the support, best decision I’ve ever made,” and added a praising emoji.

The next snap showed a slimmer-looking James, standing in front of a floral patterned fence with his hands in his pockets.

The TOWIE star wore a pair of dark wash denim jeans, a light blue Fiorucci jumper, white trainers and a huge smile on his face.

Prior to the operation, James had been warned that he needed to lose a huge 10 stone in order to keep himself healthy.

Arg has beaten his goal and lost 14 stone, where he previously weighed 27.

He has now halved his body weight thanks to the gastric band as he was forced to eat smaller portions.

The surgery reduced his stomach to 20 per cent of its initial size and leaves patients with less room to store their food, a key factor in their weight loss journey.

The star spoke to the Mail about his issues: “When I actually went to rehab for the first time, I went there initially for my problems with drink, drugs and whatever. After a few days, I got put in an eating disorder unit.”

Arg said that they “tried to teach him mindful eating” instead of “shoving his food down” and urged him to “put his phone away, relax, chew plenty of times, let the meal sit for 20 minutes and not to rush”.
