Yeah, today is Valentine’s Day, but you know what else it is? JUSTIN BIEBER CHANGES ALBUM RELEASE DAY! To celebrate this momentous occasion, let’s stream Changes all day long and delve deep into the lyrics, shall we?
It’s already been established that the whole album is a testament to Justin’s faith and his relationship with Hailey Baldwin, but we absolutely must discuss his collab with Travis Scott. The tenth track on the album is called “Second Emotion,” and after the first line, you can immediately tell they’re talking about their respective love lives with Hailey and Kylie Jenner.
The song starts out with Justin singing about how Hailey turns his head so much it gives him whiplash and how he’d rather spend time with her than tending to his original plans. Then he asks, “You really got me open (Do you?) Do you second that emotion? (Do you?),” trying to see if she feels the same way about him. Judging by the fact that they had their wedding ceremony in September, the answer is a definite yes on her end.
Also, like fans speculated in the “All Around Me” record, there may be another baby reference in here when Justin sings, “Would you mind the labor? Baby.” Much to think about.
When Travis jumps in, he praises Kylie’s stacked bank account and raps about all her luxury items. Like, there’s no way “Oh, you sent the jet out for me? You tryna ball harder than me?” is not about her. Yes, Kylie and Travis are taking a break right now, but they share their daughter Stormi and will allegedly get back together any day now because it’s “inevitable.”
Seriously, this song is filled with Hailey and Kylie references and the two artists opening up about their relationships. Check out the full lyrics for obsessive interpreting:
