Louise Redknapp, popstar, mum and businesswoman has been in the headlines recently by proxy – mainly due to her ex-husband Jamie Redknapp remarrying and announcing he is expecting a baby with his wife.

Everyone seems obsessed with her reaction after their shock split in 2017, especially as the former footballer seemed to have moved on relatively quickly and Louise remains single.

Louise has admitted that she has found it hard to get back in the relationship game and that her sons have given her advice about modern dating apps and what a minefield it can be.

She met Jamie when she was quite young and in the band Eternal – here’s a look back at their love story and what she has been up to since.

Jamie and Louise – the early days

Louise and Jamie met through their mutual friend Robbie Williams when Eternal were supporting Take That in the late Nineties. Louise said she knew Jamie was a "young, good-looking footballer" so didn’t want to get too involved and they started out as friends.

However, they soon became a showbiz golden couple and after Jamie, who played for Liverpool a the time, proposed on the beach in Bermuda in 1998, they got married within a week.

Louise was 23 at the time and the pair said they did not want a "big, glitzy wedding" and they opted for a small, private affair.

In 1995, Louise left Eternal to pursue a solo career and her bandmates were said to be "gutted". Around this time, she was almost regularly topping sexiest women polls in lads’ mags like FHM.

But by 2004, Louise gave birth to the couple’s first son, Charley. Four years later, Beau was born. Jamie was a premier league footballer during that time, earning megabucks and travelling loads so Louise took a step back from her career.

While Louise, originally from Lewisham in south London, looked after the boys Jamie’s career went from strength to strength. From footballer to pundit to starring in sports panel show A League of Their Own with Freddie Flintoff and James Corden.

Louise has since opened up about her career being put on pause and basically being a WAG.

Speaking to Women’s Own, she said: "I wouldn’t give up my time away from the limelight for all the money in the world.

"But it is hard when you’re married to someone with a very successful career, and you have children, to have everything.

"Something has to give somewhere, and I think it was me that gave.

"You get comfortable and you stop chasing the dream a little bit."

In 2015 she admitted she wanted another child – a girl. She told the Daily Express: "I know how close I am to my mum. I’ll always be close to my boys but it’s a boys’ club and I can feel a bit left out."

And at age 40 she knew that perhaps time was not on her side.

Louise added: "I am on a short time span. I need to do it quickly if I’m going to do it. I’m fully aware that I don’t have years to wait."

Strictly Come Dancing

In 2016, Louise was a contestant on Strictly and partnered with Kev Clifton – her first time in the spotlight in years. She said her confidence grew every week and pals encouraged her to wear sexier outfits.

She reached the final and from there, seemed to enjoy a new lease of life – a West End role in Cabaret was next.

Speaking to Stella magazine she said: "I have no idea what is going to happen, all I know is that I fought for this, it’s taken everything, but this is something I need to do – for me."

Split with Jamie

But this new lease of life also led Louise to question her marriage and before long, rumours of a split with Jamie, 48, began to swirl.

Eamonn Holmes even asked her outride about it and she told him that while her relationship was "heavily documented" her priority was protecting her children and "loving them and putting them first."

So not really answering the question.

But by 2017, just a year after Louise was on Strictly, she announced they were splitting and got divorced after being married for 19 years.

Paperwork stated that Louise had filed for divorce and said the marriage had irretrievably broken down because of Jamie’s "unreasonable behaviour".

Jamie did not seek to reject his wife’s divorce application.

A judge held that Jamie had behaved in such a way that Louise could not "reasonably be expected" to live with him and concluded that the marriage had "broken down irretrievably’."

Louise said: "Standing by and watching Jamie become this entertainment star was pretty hard.

"I was proud of him, but there was part of me thinking, 'that's my world'".

After the divorce, Louise admitted that she might have been too hasty and looking back, wanted to have tried harder to save her marriage.

She said in her autobiography: "I wish I’d tried. I want to say to anyone thinking of running: Just slow down. Don’t run.

"Because once you run too fast, you can’t make up the ground you’ve lost.

"Stop, say what you need, say what you think, don’t be afraid to say what’s really going on. You don’t have to be quiet."

Jamie moved on

Jamie is now in a relationship with Swedish model Frida Andersson-Lourie, 38, and the pair recently got married.

Frida is also pregnant with their first child together, a baby boy, who is due in November.

The couple is believed to have started dating in August 2020 after meeting through mutual friends.

The wedding was said to be a low key affair at Chelsea Registry Office in London in front of family members, including Jamie’s two sons.

Frida has four children with ex-husband, Jonathan Lourie.

A source told The Sun that Frida was "fun-loving and kind", adding: "Jamie feels ready to move on from his marriage to Louise and is happy to be doing it with someone who has kids too and is financially secure."

Louise is single

Louise was said to have been "blindsided" by Jamie’s pregnancy news and the wedding. In fact, she only knew about the nuptials because their sons attended.

But she has maintained a dignified silence and has yet to comment on her ex-husband’s new baby.

She has admitted that she has tried to get back in the game but this "new world of dating is difficult to navigate". Her son Charley, 17, had to give her some tips.

Louise said she was going to chat to a man on Snapchat but her son warned her and "immediately was like 'Mum, no"', as apparently dates "just want to share explicit photos".

Louise also said earlier this year that she had been on dating apps for five months but has had no luck yet.

Louise also said that whoever she ended up with needed to be on board with the "circus" of her life and the pressure of being with someone who is famous.

There’s a man out there for you, Louise – if he gets past you sons, first!
