Love Island’s Sharon Gaffka praised after saying show should have LGBTQ+ stars

Love Island star Sharon Gaffka has stunned fans after she posted a snap wearing nothing but lace lingerie.

The former islander shook fans as she shared a picture of herself in a green lace lingerie set on her Instagram story, with the caption: “Someone looking for the man of the house?”

Sharon had shared a post in which the star posed and showed off her impressive curves in an array of colourful underwear whilst performing chores around the house.

Whilst flaunting her stunning figure, the former islander took the opportunity to call out the ITV2 show for their lack of representation.

In the caption, she wrote: “London Pride is this Saturday and I’m wearing the Bluebella Pride Lingerie collection while I complete all the ‘male’ jobs of the house. I’ve been quite vocal about how I think it’s about time that Love Island features LGBTQ+ contestants. As someone who came out on the show about their bisexuality, I’d welcome this wholeheartedly.”

She continued: “Love Island’s ITV producers stress that same-sex relationships present a 'logistical difficulty', but sureLy there could be a way around this if there were more bisexual contestants in the villa?”

Sharon said that the bosses could “make sure” that there were “people on standby” to ensure that there were “no shortage of couplings,” a difficulty which she called “far from insurmountable”.

She went on to say that when she left the ITV villa, her DMs were “filled with messages from young people” who were “unsure of how to approach the same gender for the first time”.

Sharon branded her “openness” as “beneficial to many” and noted that although the show has “blessed her with opportunities and friendships,” she thinks the programme can “only benefit from greater LGBTQ+ representation,” which would “reflect their audience as a whole”.

The star concluded by mentioning that ten per cent of the profits from the limited-edition Pride collection will be donated to OutRight Action International, a non-profit organisation who are “dedicated to fighting for the human rights of LGBTQ+ people everywhere”.

Fans and friends were grateful that the former star used her platform to call out the ITV2 show and left their praise in the comments.

One wrote: "You were and are so important to queer Love Island viewers, those who are out and those who are questioning. Thank you for being an outspoken and proud queer woman of colour and happy Pride."

Another said that she was a "gem" who is "making positive changes" and "challenging the old mindset," while one simply told her that she was "making a big impact".
