Ollie Williams’ father turns down chance to back up Love Island hate figure son

The father of Ollie Williams turned down the chance to back his son despite the fact that he has become a hate figure on Love Island.

Asked to defend the 23-year-old toff, Andrew Williams said: “This is Oliver’s journey and we won’t be commenting.”

Then he said the lad could “speak for himself” when he leaves the villa.

Fans have turned against Ollie – heir to Lanhydrock Estate in Cornwall – after photos emerged of him before the launch show looking like a trophy hunter posing with dead animals killed in Africa.

TV watchdog Ofcom received 231 complaints from viewers saying it is a disgrace he has been allowed on the show.

Officials will assess whether to take the matter further.

ITV has also been flooded with demands that he be removed.

Ollie and the other contestants have no idea about the storm brewing outside.

And fans were in stitches when Siannese Fudge told him he looked like John Smith from Disney’s Pocahontas film. That is because Smith is a hunter who kills animals.

But he said: “This is Oliver’s journey and we won’t be commenting.”

Asked if there were any plans to remove Ollie from the show, ITV said last night: “Ollie is still in the villa.”
