Swae Lee Defends Lizzo After Controversial Rap Tweet (Exclusive)

The “Truth Hurts” hitmaker came under fire this week when she posted a tweet that some construed as a diss on Swae himself.

Lizzo SHOULD be part of the rap conversation — so says Swae Lee.

The "Truth Hurts" hitmaker came under fire this week when she posted a tweet that some construed as a diss on Swae himself.

"Sometimes I get pissed that there are people who call future & sway lee (sic) rappers and still question whether or not I belong in the rap conversation…but then I remember I have the #4 song in the country, laugh, go back to my dream job and log off," she tweeted, but ended up deleting it after a wave of backlash.

Future and Swae fans immediately turned on the singer on social media telling her to back off, interpreting her message as her saying neither men were rappers — even after she explained that her tweet was not an attack.

"I LOVE future & swae bruhhhhhh… the point went straight over y’alls heads…I’m just saying we all share a similar rap sing style…" she wrote with several crying (and one laughing) emojis, advising her attackers to refer to Swae’s "Sunflower" or Future‘s "The Wizrd"

When asked on Sunday night how he felt about the fallout, Swae said there was no hard feelings.

"I don’t feel anything. I just wish everybody the best," he said. "Shout out to her song. Everybody doing their thing. Everybody making their impact in the music industry, you know what I’m saying?

He said that thanks to social media, everybody was going to express their opinions, no matter what the original intentions.

"But shout out to Lizzo, shout out to everybody, keep doing your thing," he said. "There really isn’t too much to be said. It’s all good. No hard feelings."

He even said he’d be willing to do a collaboration with her.

And as for whether or not Lizzo should indeed be part of the rap conversation?

"I think she can spit. Yeah, for real," he said. "Just give credit where it’s due."
