It’s been a while since we’ve gotten new music from 26-year-old rap artist, Cardi B. But, she just released a new song, “Press”, that proves she’s not resting on her laurels. In just a few days, the song has already garnered nearly 5.5 million listens on YouTube, and is being received quite well, despite it being a slightly different sound for Cardi. Yet despite all the positivity, Cardi shocked fans when she announced that she was canceling some of her upcoming shows. Recently, the GRAMMY award winner opened up about why she made that difficult choice.

“I just really wanted like to apologize to my fans. I told the people that book me like, let people know ahead of time that I’m going to cancel the shows. I just want to say I’m sorry, guys” the “Money” singer said in a heartfelt moment via her Instagram live. The rapper expressed that she didn’t like to let her fans down because they’ve been so supportive of her and her journey.
Money
The 26-year-old also spoke about how canceling the shows was not just a hardship for the fans, but a hardship for her also. The rapper gets a great deal of her money from performances and appearances and having to cancel them last minute certainly diminishes the funds that she has for herself. “I’m a money addict, and I get paid a lot of money, a lot of money for these shows … like I’m canceling millions of dollars in shows.” the singer stated.
But why were the shows even canceled to begin with? Citing medical reasons from recent plastic surgeries, Cardi admitted that she hadn’t been getting the proper amount of rest to fully heal from the invasive procedures. “You know, I hate canceling shows because I love money. But like, health is wealth, so I have to do what I have to do. My breasts gotta fuc*ing heal, and it is what it is.” the Invasion of Privacy artist said.
Plastic surgery
Cardi also admitted that she had been going against her doctor’s orders and performing when she had not fully healed, which was causing a fair amount of complications in her body. “My doctor was like, ‘Yo, you cannot be doing all these shows because you’re not fully healed,’ I gotta get better. The way that my body be swelling up when I catch planes and sh*t, it’s so scary that I be freaking out. Like I really be freaking out.” the artist said candidly.

Cardi B claps back
Cardi also took the time to clap back at those who criticized her for getting the surgeries in the first place. Many believed that she should just take the time to eat right and exercise rather than surgically altering her body again. “My job as an entertainer is a 24-hour job, bro. So, no, I don’t have time to work out. And I wanted specific things that I know that no matter how much I work out, is not going to get fixed. Like my boobs, no matter how much I work out, they’re not going to lift themselves. So yeah, I have to get fuc*ing surgery. That’s right. All right?” she fired back to the naysayers.
No matter how you feel about Cardi, you have to admire her honesty and the ways she owns up to her choices. And if for some reason you still have something negative to say about what she chooses to do with her body, we’ll leave you with words straight from Cardi herself “I do whatever the fu*k I want with my body.”
