Last month, the former ITV News anchor announced to GB News fans he’d be taking a break from hosting his weekend slot on the channel. Following a fall, Alastair broke his hip and required urgent medical care in hospital which meant he was unable to make it into the studio to present Alastair Stewart and Friends. However, Alastair has now confirmed – unlike other GB News presenters currently on hiatus – when he’ll be back on screens.

The official GB News Twitter account confirmed the news, sharing a clip of Alastair in the studio.

“He’s back!” the tweet began as it confirmed: “Join @AlStewartOBE this Saturday on Alastair Stewart and Friends on GB News.”

In the social media post was a clip of Alastair who expressed his own excitement to be back in the presenter’s chair.

“Delighted to be back after six weeks,” Alastair began to the camera.

Delving into the details as to why he was absent, he continued: “So this horse knocked me over and I broke my hip and went to hospital.

“Argh! It’s been a nightmare – and the world has gone bonkers in that time.

“I am delighted to be back here on GB News,” he continued: “I’ll be here with my show on Saturday and on Sunday starting at 12pm.

“Exciting stories and exciting guests and I hope very much so you can join, Alastair Stewart for GB News.”

Since his hiatus from the role, several other GB News hosts have stepped in to front the weekend slot, including Rebecca Hutson and Rachel Sweeney.

And it didn’t take long for GB News fans and his fellow colleagues at the channel to welcome the news of his return.

“Lock up your vegan snacks – he’s back! @AlStewartOBE from midday this Saturday and Sunday on @GBNEWS,” Rebecca said on the social media platform.

GB News Midlands Reporter Balvinder Sidhu added: “Welcome back @AlStewartOBE looking forward to seeing you back on our telly.”

“Welcome back to legend @AlStewartOBE [applause emoji],” tweeted Dan Wootton.

While presenter Alex Phillips echoed: “THE BOSS IS BACK! Loving the jazz spin at the start! Can’t wait to have you around again! Hero! @AlStewartOBE.”
