Daily Star TV gives you all the latest interviews and spoilers and Ed Gleave will send you telly’s hot takes straight to your inbox every Sunday

BBC Breakfast fans had a mini culinary class as Sally Nugent shared her top tips on creating the perfect roasties just in time for Christmas.

Dan Walker appeared on the famous red sofa next to his co-host as he quizzed her on her skills for perfecting the dish on Tuesday morning's segment of the show.

The Strictly star said: "I heard that you're the queen of roast potatoes," which saw Sally express her love for roasties before she added: "I've got a very specific system for roast potatoes."

Dan pressed her for more information as he said he loves to hear about food skills as Dan said: "Do you incorporate flour?"

While it may be a kitchen essential for many people who love a crispy roastie, she immediately shut him down and said: "No! Not flour. Never flour."

She said: "Par boil your potatoes, dry them, let them cool completely – so this is the day before – freeze them on a great big tray if you can, with space in between them.

"Then the next day, take them out of the freezer and roast them. So the shock of going from freezing cold to really hot makes them really crispy."

Dan quizzed her on where she found her top tips as she confessed she's "probably stolen it from someone", but she said she's been doing it for the last few years.

It seems her confession has certainly raised eyebrows as the BBC Breakfast Twitter account shared the clip.

The Twitter account read: "Looking to level up your Christmas Dinner this year? Here's a top tip from the BBC Breakfast queen of roast potatoes Sally Nugent.

As viewers responded, one person said: "Deffo trying Sally's way to cook them."

Another added: "Priming a Masterchef appearance…"

Meanwhile, co-host Nina Warhurst shared an extra detail as she said: "Top tip, you can also do this with chippy chips (if you ever have any left over!)

It looks like viewers learned a lot on the show this morning when it comes to perfecting potatoes…

BBC Breakfast returns tomorrow on BBC One from 6am.
