BBC launches Love Island for couples who haven't met during lockdown

IT hasn’t been the easiest time for sex-starved singletons in lockdown but it looks like the BBC is about to throw desperate lovers a lifeline.

I’m told the Beeb is working on a post-Covid dating show called Love In The Flesh.

The show will meet couples who think they have found The One via dating apps during the pandemic hook up for the first time on a sizzling Love Island-style first date abroad.

Cameras will follow the lockdown lovers as they jet to a stunning sunshine destination to see if the online chemistry is there face to face.

A TV insider said: “Online dating has soared in the past year during lockdown.

“With the world slowly opening up, these internet lovers can no longer hide behind their screens and will have to meet their match in the flesh.

“This BBC show gives these couples everything they could possibly need for the perfect start — a Love Island backdrop, stunning weather, good food and ultimately the date of a lifetime.

“But will the person live up to expectations? And will the chemistry be real?

“While they have already match-made themselves, nothing compares to meeting someone in the flesh.

“Viewers will be able to follow these couples as they discover if they really have met The One, or whether it’s been a waste of time and they’re not who they were cracked up to be.”

The series, which is being made for BBC Three, is set to film this summer and should air later this year.

Unless Covid ruins it again for everyone, of course.

Jez: Beeb boobed on farm

Jeremy Clarkson is having the last laugh after the BBC turned down his new farming show – a hit on Amazon Prime.

In Clarkson’s Farm, the Grand Tour presenter and former Top Gear host learns about local agriculture.

Speaking on radio DJ Andy Jaye’s podcast, he said: “It’s a funny little dysfunctional family we’ve got there but it’s great.

“It’s such a harmonious and wonderful workplace. I thought, ‘This might work on television’.

“So I started pitching it to Amazon, who immediately said yes.

“Actually, I first pitched it to the BBC in 2008 and all they were bothered about was, ‘Where would the production office be?’ I said, ‘London, I suppose’. And they said, ‘Oh no, you can’t do it in London’.

“That’s all they said. They never asked what the show was about or where it was going to be made.

“Amazon was a bit less bothered about that – and here we are.”

Too hot Nathan's strip gig

He left posh Cheltenham to be a stripper in Texas – now Nathan Webb is to star in a new season of Netflix dating series Too Hot To Handle.

But however hard the 27-year-old tries to reinvent himself for TV, I can reveal Nathan was performing raunchy dances to lusty women at LaBare strip club in Dallas as recently as five weeks ago.

Having been with the club since he moved to the US in 2016, Nathan has a loyal fanbase who post rather intimate shots of him on the club’s social media page.

In one, he is bending over to talk to a woman who puts her arms around him and rubs his chest. Dollar bills are tucked into his pants by fans.

In another snap he is on stage, arms aloft, thrusting his groin forward in tight green pants, again stuffed with dollar bills.

On May 6 the club revealed his departure on Instagram. I can only imagine what’s next for him.

KSI goes back on the 'box

Amid huge demand from fans, KSI will make his return to Channel 4’s Celebrity Gogglebox next month.

The rapper, who tomorrow releases new track Holiday, will appear with producer and pal S-X. KSI’s first stint, earlier this year, went down a storm.

Star names in the new season include The Voice coaches Tom Jones and Anne-Marie, The Masked Singer host Joel Dommett and his wife Hannah and Happy Mondays pair Shaun Ryder and Bez, as well as Lorraine Kelly and her daughter Rosie, Denise Van Outen and her partner Eddie, football’s Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher, telly presenter Clare Balding and her wife Alice and Love Island’s Iain Stirling and Laura Whitmore.

KSI and S-X will appear on the July 9, 16 and 23 episodes, airing at 9pm on C4 and All 4.

Gold star for Carr

Alan Carr cracks the whip as a Wild West frontiersman for his Sky One panel show There’s Something About Movies, with Tom Allen, Tom Davis and Jennifer Saunders.

They were barely recognisable in their cowboy costumes at Laredo Western Town in Longfield, Kent.

Fern Brady and Zawe Ashton are the guests on tonight’s episode, can be seen tonight on Sky1 and NOWTV.

Bev’s hung up

THEY were married for 17 years before divorcing in 2019 and Beverley Turner is clearly not over James Cracknell.

On This Morning yesterday, she said: “I feel desperately sorry for people getting married this summer.

“My ex-husband gets married this summer. You’d think I might be happy it wouldn’t be perfect.”
