Call The Midwife's Helen George stuns fans with brown hair transformation as she gets ready for new role | The Sun

CALL The Midwife star Helen George has swapped her blonde locks for a new brunette hair style.

The actress appeared on This Morning today as she joined Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary for an interview.



And fans were amazed with her striking new look, as the normally blonde star revealed her new locks for the first time.

Helen, 38, discussed swapping screen for stage as she gets ready to star in The King and I musical, which opens in February of this year.

Helen shared her excitement at playing the role of Anna in the stage musical in London’s Palladium Theatre in the West End.

And fans took to social media to comment on her long dark hair, with one writing: “Helen your hair is a gorgeous colour really suits you x”

Another said: “Helen George is just gorgeous.”

A third commented: “Loving the new hair Helen, wow.”

Helen plays Trixie Franklin in the BBC1 series Call the Midwife, and was trained in 1950s medical techniques to prepare for the role.

During the first series, she practised delivering a baby at home – with her husband taking the role of a pregnant woman, and her Yorkshire Terrier being the 'baby'.

Helen married actor Oliver Boot, who she met on the set of Hotel Babylon in December 2012.

In August 2015, the couple confirmed their split. They are currently separated, but not divorced.

Fiction blurred with reality, when Helen started dating her Call the Midwife co-star Jack Ashton, who plays Rev Thomas, in 2016.

They have two daughters together.

And as well as Call The Midwife, Helen also starred in ITV drama DI Ray in 2022.

As a woman of many talents, Helen was also a backing singer on Elton John's tour, performing at Wembley Arena and the Royal Albert Hall.

In 2016 she starred in the music video for Birdy's cover of 1901.

Helen competed in the 13th series of Strictly Come Dancing, and was partnered with professional dancer Aljaz Skorjanec.

She consistently scored highly with the judges, but came sixth in the overall competition – after losing out on the public vote.
