Chloe Madeley defends husband James Haskell after a string of I’m A Celebrity outbursts

Chloe Madeley has jumped to the defence of her husband, James Haskell, after he has had a number of outbursts aimed at his fellow I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! campmates.

The 34 year old, who is currently filming the hit ITV show in Australia, has recently hit out at Jacqueline Jossa and Kate Garraway in arguments over food, dingo dollar challenges and bushtucker trials.

His wife, Chloe, 32, has now stuck up for her husband in an interview on Lorraine — blaming a lack of food for the former rugby player's mood swings.

When asked by host Lorraine Kelly how she thought he was getting on, Chloe said: "He had a 'hangy' episode.

"But from what I've seen he seems to have come back up again and he seems to be in a really good place."

The daughter of television royalty Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan also hit back at viewers who are calling James a "bully" due to his clashes with campmates.

She said: "I think he just had a really grumpy day and I think when you're sleep deprived and food deprived and you're surrounded by people you aren't necessarily friends with on the outside world, if you have a bad day, if you have a moody day you do kind of snap a bit.

"But I think the 'b' word is a little bit intense. I personally watched it and I just wanted to get in there and give him a hug and some food.

"We're incredibly close and I'm so, so proud of him. Despite his 'hangry' moments, I actually think he's doing a fantastic job and I'm really proud."

Chloe hasn't let the shift in public perception of her husband rule out his chances of winning, either.

When asked if she thinks he has what it takes to be crowned king of the jungle, Chloe answered: "I really don't know.

"There's so many amazing people in there, people I really, really love as a viewer and I'm really rooting for.

"And then obviously James is my husband and I want him to do well but there's also an element of I can't wait for him to get out so I can get my hands on him."

During Saturday night's episode of the hit ITV show, James branded the campsite a "circus of stupidity" when they struggled to come to an agreement on the answer of a dingo dollar challenge question.

James and his celebrity campmates had to guess what percentage of adults think that having a "stiff upper lip" is a good thing.
