EastEnders’ Danny Dyer ‘lands show with daughter Dani’ after quitting BBC soap

Danny Dyer is swapping Albert Square for the rest of the world as he's reportedly landed a brand new travel TV show alongside daughter Dani Dyer.

The legendary soap actor has starred as Mick Carter in EastEnders since 2013, but now Danny is said to have teamed up with his Love Island star daughter for an upcoming E4 series.

This comes after the 44 year old revealed he would be leaving the BBC One soap this year, as he revealed plans to take on more dramatic roles as he hoped for a “defining role” and branch out into other projects.

A TV insider explained to The Sun: “Nobody would have predicted this would have been his first move, even though he did say at the time he was keen to ‘try some other stuff’.”

The 25 year old, who also records a podcast with Danny, will join her dad on this new venture to try and reach a younger audience.

EastEnders has not yet confirmed when Danny will leave the show, but his travel series will reportedly start filming in the summer.

It was recently reported that Danny and his daughter were offered a £1 million deal by Channel 4 to star in their own reality show that would focus on their family life with wife Jo Mas, and their other children Sunnie and Arty.

At the time a TV source told The Sun: "Once Danny is a free agent later this year, the sky’s the limit."

They continued: "TV production companies are falling over themselves to film him and his family."

"Channel 4 made him a lucrative offer that he’s been tempted by and he knows his family would make really lively, fun TV as they’re all so down-to-earth and people at home can relate to them."

An EastEnders spokesperson told OK! when the news broke that the star would leave the show: "Danny will be leaving EastEnders when his contract comes to an end later this year."

"Danny has made Mick Carter an iconic character which we shall always be grateful for, however we won’t be saying goodbye just yet as there’s still quite some time – and plenty of explosive drama for Mick – to come before he departs Walford."

Speaking on his podcast Sorted With The Dyers with his daughter and soon to be co-host, Dani, Danny explained: "There's no big story around it, really. Other than the fact I've decided to go off and try some other stuff."

"I'm 44 now, and I've had nine years of playing Mick and I think he needs to be rested. I'm still looking for that defining role. Maybe it is there, maybe it isn't."

"But I've always been quite ambitious, and I had quite a long career before I went into EastEnders."

"I know the landscape has changed slightly but I want to go out there and have another go, and the only way I can do that is if I decide to walk away from the job.”
