Sonia Fowler (played by Natalie Cassidy) first appeared in EastEnders in 1993 and has been a staple character ever since. However, the stalwart may leave the soap permanently as she continues to deal with the fallout of discovering Rocky Cotton (Brian Conley) isn’t her biological dad.

The actress recently teased her character’s demise during an appearance on Rylan’s podcast.

Speaking on Ry-Union, Natalie opened up on her time on the BBC soap.

The EastEnders stalwart admitted she would like to see Sonia killed off if she decided to exit.

Rylan asked: “There might become a point where you want to leave EastEnders.

“I just want to know where do you want Sonia to end up. What do you want for Sonia?”

Natalie replied: “I don’t think I can tell you that because it’s really bad.”

“In years to come, if I wanted to go or let’s say EastEnders turned around and said, ‘You know, we just feel it’s the end of the road for Sonia,’ I do think I’d want her to die!” Natalie continued.

“Everyone would be really heartbroken crying which is what you want, especially on like a Christmas afternoon crying into their turkey.”

“It shuts the door properly and you move on properly,” she joked.

Currently, Sonia is still coming to terms with Rocky pretending to be her long-lost dad Terry Cant.

The nurse was furious with the imposter who has vowed to stick around and make it up to her.

EastEnders fans will know Rocky initially came on the scene to help Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero) con Sonia out of Dot Cotton’s (June Brown) inheritance.

Little is known about Rocky’s past but it’s clear he has little money of his own and is nothing more than a conman.

If Rocky has accrued debts and owes some unpleasant people money he may end up putting Sonia in danger.

If a gang leader approached the conman to find out why he’s still hanging around in Walford rather than finding a way to pay them back, they may realise how much he cares for Sonia.

Will Rocky’s past catch up with him resulting in Sonia being attacked and possibly killed?

After appearing in the soap for almost 30 years, the actress admitted she’s “grateful” to be a part of the show.

Natalie said: “I remember going up to Elstree and seeing queues and queues and queues of people lining up for Top of the Pops to see Take That!

“And for me, I just thought, ‘I’m driving through these gates and all these people are waiting to see Take That and I’m driving through these gates.’”

“And that was it for me, I just thought it was going to be a day out and I wouldn’t get the part…And I did,” she shared.

“It’s rolled on and I just feel and I know it’s a cliche and it sounds really boring, but I am genuinely so lucky and feel so grateful every day to be a part of this show.”
