The 22-year-old EastEnders actress appeared on Friday’s instalment of The One Show where she was quizzed about her co-star Rose Ayling-Ellis winning the Glitterball Trophy in last year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing. Milly had nothing but praise for Rose when she was speaking with hosts Alex Jones and Ronan Keating. However, Ronan could not resist asking Milly if she would want to compete in a future series of the ballroom dancing show.
Milly has been playing Dotty Cotton on EastEnders since 2019 and has watched her co-stars Rose Ayling-Ellis and Maisie Smith compete on Strictly Come Dancing in recent years.
Maisie, who played Tiffany Butcher-Baker on EastEnders, starred in the 2020 series and made it through to the final, but it was Bill Bailey who was crowned the winner with his professional partner Oti Mabuse.
Rose, who portrays Frankie Lewis on the BBC soap, won the most recent series with her dance partner Giovanni Pernice.
Milly, 22, gushed about her colleagues’ Strictly Come Dancing success to Alex and Ronan before airing her views about competing herself.
Alex began: “We know you are a close group of young actors on the show.
“Did you all enjoy watching Rose on Strictly because she was phenomenal?”
Milly replied: “Oh my God, it was incredible, it was so good. We’ve had so many EastEnders people come on and come second or third and do really well, but they’ve never won.
“So she’s like our first winner, so every single week she was on [the show] we were all cheering her on through our Whatsapp chat.
“I’m going to see the tour which I am really excited about as it’s just so good and [Rose] did so well.”
Ronan chimed in to ask: “Milly, would you be tempted to do Strictly yourself?”
She hesitated for a moment, before saying: “Maybe, from what I hear from Maisie and Rose it’s such an amazing experience which really pushes you out of your comfort zone. So yes, maybe.”
Alex told Ronan it sounded like Milly “definitely” wanted to sign up for this year’s series of Strictly.
Rose managed to beat Great British Bake Off star John Whaite in December’s explosive final.
By January, Rose and Giovanni were reunited when the Strictly Come Dancing tour kicked off with its first set of glittering shows in Birmingham’s Utilita Arena.
Strictly finalist John, 32, recently opened up in a candid interview about how Rose “had to win” because “she’d done so much”.
He made the admission on That Gaby Roslin Podcast when the former Big Breakfast host highlighted the power of Rose and Giovanni’s silent Couple’s Choice routine.
John explained: “It sends tremors through the entire earth to think that two people can do that on television and it can send those massive shock waves through the entire world.
“It’s so beautiful, it’s just so reassuring to think that we have family here in a world where we can do that.”
The One Show airs weekdays on BBC One at 7pm.
