Emmerdale fans went wild earlier this week as they discovered Wendy Posner star Susan Cookson's connection to Coronation Street.
Eagle-eyed soap watchers took to Twitter to share their shock that Susan previously played Marion, the mother of Callum Logan, on Coronation Street between 2015 to 2016. The role of Marion was taken over by Kerry Peers in 2019 and 2020.
Only recently on Emmerdale, Wendy was part of an explosive storyline which saw her ex Russ hold both her and Victoria Sugden hostage as he demanded that they hand over Harry's inheritance money before shooting David Metcalfe.
During the scenes, Wendy, whose son Lee raped Victoria in a previous harrowing storyline, was forced to admit that she isn't a qualified nurse, despite working as a nurse on the ITV soap.
While earlier this week, the character confessed that she previously stole drugs for ex Russ during her career so he could sell them on, which resulted in her doing 12 months for theft.
Viewers were quick to comment on the link between Emmerdale and Coronation Street, as they commented on how the actress has played two different soap characters as the mother of a "nasty man".
One person put: "OMG IS MARIAM (callum’s mum) in corrie WENDY IN EMMERDALE?!"
Another follower appeared to get confused over the two soaps as they penned: "Wendy: "Oh boo hoo! Oh boo hoo! My poor son Callum from #corrie !Oh boo hoo hoo…" #Emmerdale."
While a different soap watcher added: "Blags my head that Wendy on Emmerdale played Callum’s mum on Corrie. Both times she’s played the mum of a nasty nasty man. Both times she’s stalked her the mum of her dead son’s child and both Sarah’s and Victoria’s baby are called Harry."
However, despite the recent furore, some soap watchers had spotted the connection back in 2019.
One person tweeted at the time: "Wendy Lees mum in Emmerdale did she play Marion Calum Logans mum in Coronation Street thought I recognised her @emmerdale @itvcorrie."
While another added: "The lady that plays Wendy is playing a very similar character to who she did in Corrie, the mother who insists that her son is an 'innocent little angel' @emmerdale #Emmerdale."
However, it's not just Wendy who left fans distracted as last month fans recognised newcomer Russ, played by Rob Jarvis, from BBC's Hustle where he played barman Eddie between 2004 to 2012.
Taking to Twitter, one soap watcher wrote: "Oh my days ive worked out where ive seen russ before its eddie from #hustle I do miss that show #emmerdale."
A different account put: "Can’t see Russ as a baddie having seen him as Eddie the bartender in 'Hustle' #Emmerdale."
While another viewer added: "Russ is the bartender off Hustle #Emmerdale."
