Emmerdale fans have noticed a striking resemblance between newcomer Marcus Dean to a particular legendary actor on the soap.
Actor Darcy Grey arrived in the Dales as Marcus who is the son of the rapist and killer, Pierce Harris, played by Jonathan Wrather and victim, Rhona Goskirk played by Zoe Henry.
The handsome stranger had his own emotional backstory of the abuse he received as a child at the hands of his father.
However, ITV viewers were distracted both by the hunk’s looks and his striking resemblance to actor Mark Charnock who plays Marlon Dingle on the show.
One fan tweeted: "Does anyone notice that he looks like Marlon."
As another added: "He looks like a young Marlon from this angle."
Others were swooning over his looks and delighted that Marcus would be in the regular cast.
A viewer penned: "Hello Marcus….I'll be tuning in every night now just to watch you. #Emmerdale."
Another wrote: "This Marcus has lovely blue eyes. #Emmerdale"
As a third gushed: "Marcus is seriously cute! #Emmerdale"
"Lowkey in love with Marcus #emmerdale," a fan agreed.
In the episode, Marcus detailed at length his difficult childhood with his horrific father figure, Pierce. He began: “I was really young so emotional abuse wasn’t really part of my thinking. But I always had to be quiet when daddy was around.
“I swear I was walking on eggshells from the moment I took my first steps. It was always guaranteed he would kick off at some point, and then there would be a row and mum would try and calm things down without success.
“Mum’s filled in the blanks in a sense – she said it was never ending. There was a friend mum had, one of the few he hadn’t driven away called Linda.
“She never liked him apparently and couldn’t trust him. One day mum got our stuff together and we went to Linda’s place for a while.”
Even though Marcus is there to see his dad and detailed their strained relationship, fans think that he could be just like his dad.
One viewer suggested: "I am not buying that this Marcus is Pierce’s son –≠ at no point has he ever been mentioned. And for someone to approach Rhona with a request is a bit suss."
As a second said: "Rhona nooooo – he’s in cahoots with his a**e of a dad."
And another asked: “Why does it feel like he's stringing Rhona along?"
