Emmerdale spoilers: A huge secret is exposed in Christmas shock

Emmerdale residents are set to be rocked in explosive scenes this Christmas, proving once again it will be far from a silent night in the village.

Upcoming episodes will have a great mix of explosive drama and festive fun to keep soap fans glued to the telly over the coming weeks.

Producer Laura Shaw hinted that ‘lives are going to be changed forever’ and revealed characters such as Mandy (Lisa Riley), Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) and Jai (Chris Bisson) are going to have a Christmas to remember.

Not only that, but a huge secret is set to be exposed in a truly shocking way.

Of course Laura couldn’t give any more detail – you’ll have to tune in to see what comes out and how – but she did share some teasers at a press event.

Laura said: ‘We’ve got a really big fun Christmas and New Year coming up, and it’s jam-packed full of romance, disaster, comedy, heartbreak, shock twists and turns!

‘A huge secret is going to come out in a truly magnificent way that’s going to make everybody gasp, I promise you!

‘We’ve just finished storylining a massive chapter in our big Mandy, Paul and Vinny story that’s on-screen now. Keep watching to see how that plays out, because it’s going to be one of our really big stories in 2021. Lives are definitely going to be changed forever.

‘There is more to come with Laurel and Jai. Their story does not end with their termination, so they’re going to be feeling the effects of the decision they’ve made for quite a lot of next year.’

Laurel and Jai will explore the heart-breaking decision of ending a pregnancy when they are told that their baby will be born with Down’s Syndrome.

Charlotte said of the upcoming storyline: ‘I hope Laurel and Jai’s story will take the audience on the journey of them coming to this conclusion and having some understanding why they do. There are some very powerfully written scenes that I hope will give a fair portrayal of their situation. When I embarked on this storyline I was well aware of the responsibility of the subject matter, but the scripts have been so well written and I think the story is told fairly.’
