During a recent episode of Channel 4’s Escape to the Chateau, Angel Adoree and Dick Strawbridge unveiled the biggest project in the chateau to Angel’s parents. She has been working on a bedroom and bathroom for her parents when they come and visit them in France. She explained she felt it was their biggest project in the house before breaking down after she left her mum speechless with their own living space in the chateau.

Speaking to the camera about how she felt the project was finally finished, Angel explained: “The bed zone wouldn’t be finished without Arthur and Dorothy’s cushion.

“I just love this space, everything from the beams right down to the floor, it’s not level but come on, this is an old barn.

“It’s got character, and it’s beautiful,” she revealed, detailing how her aim to create a room of lived in luxury has been achieved.

Angel continued: “I was kind of searching for this sort of linen look that it didn’t matter if your bed was made or not.

“It still looks really lovely, and I love it so much as well because I was just putting my cushions here, flinging them on, they’re not the perfect symmetry that I always have.

“I’m trying to unperfect them, what’s not to love about an organised wardrobe, I’m jealous, actually a bit jealous,” she whispered as she walked through the room.

Every detail of every room was carefully considered with her parents in mind, to which she reflected: “I do feel like it shows vibe.

“I can’t quite believe it because this hasn’t been an overnight project, this has been a slow project and a project that has taken lots and lots and lots of work.

“It definitely is bigger than anything we’ve done in the chateau because it’s been the walls, utilities, it’s smart to finish, you know.

“This was the coach house, a barn, and I’m trying to bring in sort of real relaxed, organic feel and keep it really contemporary.

“I have no idea if I’ve got this right, I really don’t know if I’ve got this right, I actually think it is time to show mum and dad,” she said, looking nervous.

As her mum and dad walked into the room, her mum exclaimed: “Hello sweetie, oh my god! Wow.”

Looking around the room his daughter had designed and brought to life, her dad exclaimed: “This must be the best-kept secret, oh wow.”

Arthur and Dorothy were also impressed with the work Angel had created in the room and began to settle onto the bed with their grandmother.

Angel’s dad joked: “If I stayed at a hotel and they give me a room like this, I would be over the moon!”

Her mum added: “This is like six-star, isn’t it,” to which Angel replied: “I’m about to take you to seven stars,” as she took them into the bathroom.

Once again stunned by her daughter’s work, her mum was left speechless: “Wow, oh my gosh, I think you better teach me how to use it all, this is so impressive.

“I’m just, oh it’s, I can’t. I’m lost for words sorry darling, absolutely, you’re such clever people,” she said as she hugged a now crying Angel.

Dick laughed: “Oh, give over girl, do you know what the most important thing is you’ve got to enjoy this, you really, really have to enjoy it.”

As the family gathered their emotions, Angel’s dad lightened the mood and joked: “Now can you go because I want to go to bed.”
