Love Island fans are demanding answers over Sherif Lanre's shock exit on last night's show – after producers refused to reveal the reason he's been booted off.
Sherif was only seen briefly in the first half of the episode, wearing a white shirt as he chatted to some of the other boys in the garden.
But the footage was edited to ensure none of his conversations were broadcast, and the only shots we saw of him were fleeting.
In fact, the only mention we even had of the 20-year-old chef was when comedian Iain Stirling, who narrates the programme, said in his voiceover: "Earlier, following discussions with the producers, Sherif left the villa. But for the other Islanders it's another day in paradise."
Viewers were left furious that the show had addressed his exit so flippantly , especially as sources have told Mirror Online that Sherif had made a "silly mistake" that saw him hauled into the Beach Hut for a dressing down.
One tweeted: "There's too many stories going about about as to why Sherif left the villa. @LoveIsland need to come forward and tell us the real reason otherwise people are going to keep making stuff up. It's not fair to Sherif or even Anton who alot of the rumours are about."
Another pointed out: "Baaaadly handled situation by the show. The amount of theories and speculation online today is not fair, even if Sherif was in the wrong for something."
And a third wrote: "We should all boycott the show until they tell us why Sherif had to leave!! I need to know."
The semi-pro rugby player is still not home, having been kept in lockdown by Love Island producers while the news of his axing broke.
Sherif's Instagram , believed to be run by family and friends while he is out of the country, even joked in a post that he is now jetting off on a lads holiday to Croatia.
Under a photo of himself from a news report about his Love Island exit, they posted a meme that reads: "Looks like Makarska's back on the menu boys."
Makarska is a seaside region in Croatia, known for its beaches and nightlife.
Sherif's mum Diana Rollanson-Williams admitted yesterday she'd been given no warning by the producers about what her son had done.
Blasting Love Island as "unfair", she said she would defend Sherif as he's her son, and confirmed he would be back home "in a couple of days", but still had no clue what he had done wrong, or which of the many villa rules he had broken.
Sherif is still believed to be out in Majorca , being kept hidden by ITV staff before he's put on a secret flight back to the UK.
He's yet to be seen in person since his time in the villa, but did release a statement through producers yesterday afternoon.
"In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa," he said.
"I regret that I didn't conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it's something I know I will take on board and learn from.
"I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside."
Among the theories going round about Sherif's exit are that he got into an altercation with Anton Danyluk, following a supposed screenshot of Instagram messages between Sherif and an unknown person.
The person asks 'Sherif' what happened, and the reality star replies: "Anton happened. Purposely moving to Anna while I'm right next to him trying to touch her leg.
"Asked him for a chat in private because I wanted to confront him and it got heated and security had to split us up, heartbroken but s**t happens man."
However, an ITV source confirmed to Mirror Online that the messages are fake , having hoaxed thousands of fans on social media.
It came after we exclusively revealed Sherif knew immediately that he'd broken a rule after he was told to report to the Beach Hut for a discussion with producers.
"Sherif made a silly mistake and was immediately summoned to the Beach Hut – it wasn't a criminal matter and he was spoken to and agreed to leave," a Love Island insider told us.
"Sherif knew he had to leave immediately after being called to the Beach Hut. No security were involved."
