Kirsty Gallacher began her career as a presenter on Sky Sports News in 1998 before going on to host a number of other programmes including Kirsty’s Home Videos. She returned to Sky Sports News in 2011 and stayed there until 2018. She has since been signed to co-host The Great British Breakfast on GB News. However, during an appearance on James Martin’s Saturday Morning, the 45-year-opened up about why she decided to leave Sky.
Kirsty began by explaining to James that initially, she wanted to work in fashion, which is what she studied at university.
She told the TV chef she had a dream of being a clothes designer at first until she changed her mind to fashion journalism.
However, she soon found herself in sports reporting which was completely out of her comfort zone.
Speaking about her time at Sky Sports News, Kirsty recalled: “I loved my time there. It was like a family as well.”
She continued: “All lovely and very comfortable. But I like, you know this about me, I like a challenge.
“I just felt I was too comfortable, and I needed and wanted to do something different.
“I spoke to a few people and w ‘I’ve been offered this other project and this one, what do you think?’
“And a lot of people just went ‘follow your gut’ and so I followed my gut, and it was a passion project. I’m talking about the podcast really.”
