Hit comedy Ginny and Georgia was such a success it featured second on Netflix’s US top 10 charts, right under Tiger King. After season one was released in February, fans have patiently waited for an announcement about the second instalment, thankfully actor Scott Porter dropped a major production update.

Scott, who played Mayor Paul Randolph, took to Instagram to share Ginny and Georgia was back in production for season two.

He shared a photo of the show’s clapperboard and captioned it: “And. We’re. BACK. Scene 1 of #Season2 is in the can. #GinnyAndGeorgia.”

Fans were thrilled filming for season two had begun and took to the comments to share their excitement, biancagiselle wrote: ”Omgggg yay.”

Kk_coe commented: “So excited .. cannot wait for next season.”

The teenage comedy followed Ginny (Antonia Gentry), a free-spirited mother and her two children Georgia (Brianne Howe) and Austin (Diesel La Torraca) as they relocated to New England for a fresh start.

As the season progressed viewers got an insight into the cracks in the mother and daughter relationship.

The 30-year-old single mother was cunning while her 15-year-old daughter felt alienated in the town and often more mature than her mother.

However, a huge fallout occurred when Ginny discovered her mother’s murderous past, which was the real reason they were on the run.

Season one ended on a major cliffhanger which saw Ginny speeding off on a motorcycle with Austin after her mother was behind the deaths of her first and second husband.

With over 52 million viewers tuned in during the first 28 days of its premiere, Ginny and Georgia was renewed for a second season in April.

As well as Antonia, Brianne and Diesel reprising their roles for the upcoming instalment, Scott Porter is expected to return as Mayor Paul Randolph.

After the family moved to New England, Paul showed an interest in Georgia and the two hit it off.

Speaking on their relationship in season two, the actor told OK magazine he hoped they could make it down the aisle: “I think that they can, and I think that they will.”

Scott continued: “What I am worried about is whether Paul makes it out the other side because all the people that have actually been married to Georgia, things don’t end well, so we will have to see what happens.”

“I really do think they have what it takes to actually get married and give this a real go, whether or not it works out in the end, we will have to wait and see,” he concluded.

The actor also shared an interest in delving into his character’s past and home life.

Other fans including Megan who shared: “Ooooh. Can’t wait after that cliffhanger!!!” also expressed their excitement in Scott’s comments.

MoonYashi added: “I don’t know if I’m screaming or crying, YES YES YES I am so so so happy! S2 let’s go !!!!!”

Krissy_Delacey commented: “I’m so incredibly happy to see this!!!!”

Despite this, a release date is yet to be announced, however, will be updated with new information.
