Strictly: Ranvir gets emotional after dance with Giovanni
Last night’s Strictly Come Dancing saw the six remaining couples take on Musicals Week with some mixed results. Contestants JJ Chalmers and Ranvir Singh performed a Charleston and a Viennese Waltz respectively and they received heaps of praise from the judges after their routines. But reflecting on the choice of routines, former show professional James Jordan pointed out the pair “haven’t had many rhythmical dances” and believes they keep getting given “dances that will suit them.”
The six celebrities all faced Musicals Week on Saturday evening’s live show after the pros dazzled with an opening routine
Whilst HRVY and Maisie Smith had near-perfect scores, JJ found himself at the bottom of the leaderboard.
James – who was on the programme between 2006 and 2013 – has had his say on this week’s programme.
And when looking back over the routines given to the couples this week, he felt JJ and Ranvir are being given dances that play to their strengths.

James made his thoughts clear, with the Ladbrokes ambassador noting: “I feel JJ and Ranvir keep getting dances that will suit them.
“They haven’t had many rhythmical dances which other celebs have had to do, just an observation.”
“I still love them both but perhaps see things others wouldn’t because I’ve been on the show,” he added.
It comes after Ranvir’s Foxtrot last weekend was labelled as “safe” by the judges and many fans have commented on JJ’s apparent lack of Latin-style dances.
Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “Absolute joke that JJ hasn’t done a proper Latin yet – it’s just unfair #strictly.”
Another shared: “How have they let JJ into the quarter-final without dancing ANY Latin? #Strictly #StandingUpStraightIsntChoreography.”
“Tell me, when will JJ dance a Latin??? He hasn’t done the Samba, Salsa or Tango yet. Doesn’t seem v fair. #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing,” echoed a third.
“JJ is nice and all. But blimey, all his dances are boring. Should be given more Latin to add more variety to his performances #Strictly,” commented another.

Last night, upped the tempo with his Charleston, although the routine seemed to lack the variety of lifts viewers are often used to seeing in the style of dance.
The former Royal Marine received a generally positive response from the judging panel, however, he only scored 20 points which left him trailing at the bottom of the leaderboard.
James added: “JJ… Well done on opening the show. I have to say he pleasantly surprised me and thought it was all very sweet.
“They are a lovely couple, however, it was all just a little bit one level, no real light and shade.
“No big lifts or anything to get me excited,” added the former Strictly professional.
Meanwhile, Ranvir scored 27 points and found herself nearer the top of the leaderboard after performing a routine judge Motsi Mabuse dubbed “moving”.
But who will find themselves in the dreaded dance-off this evening and have to bid farewell to the show?
