The Olympian and her Loose Women co-stars, Katie Piper, Denise Welch and Jane Moore presented the latest instalment of the ITV talk show. When they were discussing Father Christmas’ appearance, Dame Kelly Holmes used some explicit language which she had to apologise for.
The women were debating whether Father Christmas should go on a diet this year as he is known for being on the larger side.
However, Kelly said: “I’m sorry but I’ve been in health and fitness all my life but I would literally not care if Santa was fat, thin, black, white, gay, straight.
“I just want the b****y presents,” she added.
She realised she swore and covered her mouth with her hands as the audience burst into laughter.
Denise joked as Kelly covered her face with her cue card: “That’s Dame Kelly Holmes.”
A worried Kelly added: “Oh that’s going to be all over the papers now, I just want presents, give me the presents.”
Katie said: “Don’t worry, you are going to get your present. We have got your present.”
The hosts swiftly moved on with the rest of the festive episode and it is not the first time a panellist has used colourful language on live television.
The Olympic legend joined Loose Women in September and told The Sun at the time she hoped to bring her energy to the show.
ITV viewers were pleased to see Kelly on Wednesday, despite her blunder.
Eileen Livesey said: “Lovely to see Dame Kelly Holmes, I remember when she turned down, live on TV, an invitation from Tom Cruise to attend a premiere. She said she had nothing to wear to a premiere.”
Manny Crooks shared: “Do you know what I don’t think we talk about enough? How stunning Dame Kelly Holmes is?! I’m wrapping presents and flicked over the TV and she’s on @loosewomen. I adore her and her story and how wonderful she is and my goodness she’s beautiful!” (sic)

Loose Women’s Jane cringed last month when she swore on the talk show while speaking to Brenda Edwards.
Jane said “a**” while talking about a unique use for haemorrhoid cream.
She said: “A make-up a**e told me,” before correcting herself to use the word, make-up artist.
Jane quipped following the error: “That’s what is known as a Freudian slip”.
Jane also opened up on a recent episode of the show about her split from her husband after 20 years.
Jane and Gary Farrow wed in 2002, with Sir Elton John as the best man.
The journalist described Gary as her “best friend” during the heartbreaking update on December 7.
Loose Women airs on weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
