Saira Khan is challenging herself more than ever in the new series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. The star-studded spin-off of the hit Channel 4 show SAS: Who Dares Wins sees 12 celebrities push themselves mentally and physically, as they undergo a series of SAS selection challenges. Loose Women star Saira is one of the contestants in the new series and has opened up about her life-changing experience on the programme.
Celebrity SAS is back on Channel 4, with a wide range of famous faces taking on tough challenges in the wilds of the Scottish Hebrides.
In the series, the contestants have headed to the remote island of Raasay, on one of the most challenging selection courses yet.
In a recent interview with Express.co.uk and other press, Saira spoke out about her time on the show and what she took away from the experience.
When asked what she learnt from being on Celebrity SAS, she replied: “The biggest lesson for me is to actually stop and start enjoying my life.”
“Stop proving a wanting more and more and more. COVID I think, you know, taught me that but then taking it a further step,” she continued.
“For me, it was very important to recognise that if I don’t stop now and take stock of my life and my situation and what I’ve actually achieved for myself alone I’m never going to get to that stage where I feel actually quite successful.
“I think up until this point I’ve just never felt successful in my life, ever. Then doing something like SAS, and feeling ‘my goodness’.
“I know I was strong, but I really, you know, felt strong and proved to myself that I don’t need to prove myself if you know what I mean.”
“I think that was the biggest lesson, and I came home, and as a consequence, actually, as a result of that I did take big drastic steps in my life,” Saira revealed.
She detailed how during her time on Celebrity SAS she was forced to depend on herself, noting that it was a “very telling” experience.
The presenter explained how it inspired her to make changes: “I wasn’t going to go back to the same s**t getting the same results.
“So, I’ve changed my life and I’m actually very happy about it,” Saira confessed.
However, the presenter made it clear that Celebrity SAS is an incredibly tough show, noting that she suffered a serious injury.
“I was left with lifelong scars, physical ones, and that’s very, very hard to cope with,” she commented.
Starring alongside Saira in the series are Alexandra Burke, Ore Oduba, James Cracknell, Kerry Katona, Ulrika Jonsson, Wes Nelson, Vicky Pattison, Jake Quickenden, Kieron Dyer, Aled Davies, and Shanaze Reade.
Saira isn’t the only contestant to claim the hit Channel 4 show has changed their life, as singer Alexandra also gave high praise to the programme.
Alexandra said: “My friends who know me well and my family have all said ‘you are a changed person since SAS’.
“They can’t, they literally are just like, ‘every time we see you, you’re just a different human being’, and I can feel that change,” she added.
“It definitely gave me strength that I’ve never seen before,” the singer remarked.
Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins airs Sundays on Channel 4 at 9 pm.
