Love Island viewers went wild during Wednesday night's episode (January 18) as a song Stormzy reportedly wrote about his ex-girlfriend Maya Jama, and now show host, was played in the background.
The moment came when Tanya Mahenga and Ron Hall were invited to go on dates with the two new bombshells, as they left the villa for drinks and a chat in the South African countryside.
Sitting down to get to know David Salako and Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown, the two Islanders were all smiles as producers started playing rapper Stormzy's new track Hide and Seek in the background.
The song, which features on the singer's new album, is already widely-believed to be about his ex Maya, years after the pair split in 2019.
But the connection between the track playing when 28 year old Maya has started hosting the show, after taking on the role after Laura Whitmore quit last year, was too much for many fans.
"love island are MESSYYYY for playing stormzy’s hide and seek on maya jama’s show #LoveIsland #TALKSWITHASH," one shocked viewer wrote on Twitter.
Another fan declared: "ITV playing stormzy knowing god damn well Maya will see #LoveIsland."
One person joked it was cheeky narrator Iain Stirling's decision to add the track to the playlist, saying: "ian adding hide and seek to the soundtrack to vex stormzy #LoveIsland #LoveIslandUK."
While a fourth person went as far as to tease it could be Stormzy's attempt to win his ex back.
"Stormzy convincing the producers to play his songs cause he is promoting the album definitely not cause his ex isn’t on the show *wink wink* #LoveIsland," they laughed.
Shock and open-mouthed emojis littered the feed as viewers couldn't believe what they were hearing.
The track's lyrics include: "Oh, girl, you’re shining. You know you’re my diamond."
And Stormzy later croons: "Heartbreak’s such a dark place but we stay in it."
One fan even wondered if ITV bosses will go one step further and book Stormzy for the show's series party this year, saying: "Imagine they make this years guest performance Stormzy #LoveIsland."
The addition of the rapper's track is probably a simple coincidence given the recent release of his new album, and Love Island always stays current with the hottest music choices.
But as many viewers commented, given Maya's role on the show as host, she will need to watch every episode in order to stay in the know ready for Sunday night's Aftersun interviews.
Elsewhere in the villa, couples are starting to heat up, as Tanya and Shaq shared a steamy kiss in bed together.
While Olivia Hawkins, who some fans think is the spitting image of Molly-Mae Hague, is flirting up a storm with bombshell Tom Clare, but she insisted she wouldn't be cuddling him yet as that's "too intimate" for her.
Love Island continues every night at 9pm on ITV2, and is available to stream on the ITV Hub.
