Love Island host Laura covers up Sophie’s awkward blunder in reunion with Connor

Laura Whitmore was forced to 'cover up' Sophie's awkward blunder on tonight's Love Island Aftersun.

The presenter admitted she felt like a "third wheel" as Sophie and Connor Durman saw each other for the first time since leaving the villa and agreed to go on a date.

However, the illusion of their first reunion being shown live on ITV2 had been shattered by Sophie just moments before.

Rochelle Humes' sister, who arrived back in the UK today, let slip she had a brief chat with Connor backstage before they went on air.

To build up the tension once again, flapping host Laura pointed out to viewers that it had only been a brief five minute chat.

Taking to Twitter , one viewer said: "Hahaha Sophie f***ed it. She wasn’t supposed to say she had already seen and chatted to Connor"

"Sophie just blurted out that she already met Connor for 5 mins Laura quickly tried to cover that up hahahahahaha omdays," added another.

A third said: "Lol Sophie’s fired for letting it slip she’s already been ‘reunited’ with Connor"

After a tentative hug, Connor revealed he had been watching Sophie on screen every night.

He admitted: "It has been hard watching it, not going to lie. At the same time I wanted her to be happy."

Sophie confessed it was "weird" but "nice" to see Connor, who was worried about Casa Amor before she was booted out.

She then asked if Connor was going to take her on a date – but he claimed they needed to swap numbers first.

Connor joked he would pick Sophie up in his white van and looked forward to being alone without cameras.

Sophie admitted she was stunned when Connagh Howard picked her at the recoupling because they had only had one conversation.

On Connor's reaction, she said: "I feel he handled the situation maturely so it definitely made me fancy him more."

She also revealed they were both in shock when they were separated in a devastating twist and she considered leaving.

Sophie explained: "I couldn't believe I was in that situation. It was so bad. It was all mixed emotions.

"It was going through my head to leave. At the same time I was having so much fun and it had been only two weeks. My journey wasn't over. Over time I realised it was."

After leaving the villa last week, Sophie confessed she wanted to continue to getting to know Connor outside the villa.

But she admitted that she is worried about whether she will even hear from the coffee bean salesman because they haven’t actually exchanged numbers.

"It would be nice to think we can pick up where we left off. It’d be starting from the beginning and going on dates," said Sophie in her post-villa interview.

Sophie confessed she did want to catch up with Connor over a dinner date with Connor, something that the couple didn’t get to do in the villa.

She added: "I can’t wait to see Connor when I get back, it would be nice to go on a few dates and see what happens.

"I am very nervous to speak to him. I keep thinking, ‘Will he even answer a DM?’ because I don’t have his number! I am so excited to speak to him and see him."
