The international hit from Netflix has finished filming and the anticipated conclusion to the Spanish heist crime series has yet to announce a release date. A recent behind-the-scenes photo of the Money Heist cast was posted on Instagram, and eagle-eyed fans have spotted someone long-thought dead.
The popular series follows The Professor (played by Álvaro Morte)and his ambitious plan to escape the Royal Mint of Spain with €2.6billion.
The Bank of Spain later becomes a target in an increasingly dangerous second heist.
The non-English-language series and one of Netflix’s most watched of all time, Money Heist, was renewed by the streaming service in July 2020.
The award-winning show is set in Madrid, Spain, and follows criminal mastermind The Professor as he exacts his plan with his team.
Pedro Alonso stars as the terminally ill jewel thief Berlin, who just happens to be The Professor’s older brother.
A behind-the-scenes photo was posted on Instagram with the entire cast in their red boiler jumpsuits.
The caption read: “Started as a robbery, ended as a family. The filming of Part 5 is over.
“Thank you for supporting La Resistencia, we can’t wait for you to see how this story ends. #LCDP5.”
The photo delighted fans, however, many noticed that Berlin was also in the photo.
One Instagram user commented: “Did Anyone Noticed Berlin is their too?” (Sic)
Another equally excited Money Heist fan wrote: “Who noticed Berlin [heart eyes emoji].”
A third user responded to the photo, by explaining: “Yes of course… because Berlin will be appearing in flashbacks.”
Berlin was a fan-favourite during his tenure on the show and he appeared to die in season two.
Though, fans were pleased to discover that the character would continue to appear in the show in flashbacks.
With season four ending on multiple cliffhangers, fans are concerned that season five won’t reach a satisfactory conclusion.
Though, the possibility of more flashbacks featuring Berlin could make the final season all the more exciting, as well as emotional, especially for The Professor.
The long-awaited final series has finished shooting, and the show’s locations for the final season include Denmark, Spain, and Portugal.
Series creator Álex Pina hinted to Oprah Daily recently about the possibility for some spin-offs in the future.
“We do have many possibilities for some spinoffs, yes, and I think that’s thanks to the strong and powerful identities of the characters,” he stated. “We’ve always looked for characters to have a very complex, layered design.
“So I think almost every character of Money Heist has a duality that we would like to see in a spin-off.”
The first four seasons of Money Heist are currently available to stream on Netflix.
