NCIS Hawaii is promising to be the biggest change for the franchise yet. Fans are hoping for a Hawaii Five-0 crossover, which wouldn’t be the first time for the franchise. But will there be a crossover during the new series?

NCIS Hawaii: Will there be a Hawaii Five-0 crossover?

The NCIS franchise may never have been set in Hawaii, but it has visited before.

In NCIS LA, during the crossover event titled Touch of Death from 2012, the franchise joined with Hawaii Five-0.

The event sent fans’ minds spinning and now that NCIS Hawaii is coming on September 1 the show could crossover again.

However, there has been no confirmation from CBS over a potential meeting of the two shows, despite having done so before.

Chances don’t look good on a crossover, however, as CBS cancelled Hawaii Five-0 in March of 2020.

This wouldn’t necessarily mean the two shows meeting is impossible, as characters could still feature in the new NCIS show.

Upon Hawaii Five-0’s cancellation, CBS Entertainment boss Kelly Kahl said in a statement: “It’s never easy to say goodbye to a hit franchise that carried on the legacy of the original with such distinction while establishing its own signature style.

“Thanks to the amazing talents of the producers, writers, cast and crew, it has played a key role for a decade on our schedule and helped establish our powerhouse Friday night.

Despite this, fans have been taking to social media hoping to get a crossover event with the series and many have been sharing that hope on Twitter.

One fan said: “Looking forward to it soon!!! Especially with them crossovers!!!!”

Another fan added: “This only makes sense if NCIS Hawaii acknowledges Five 0 task force as the top law enforcement after HPD off course.”

A third fan said: “I wish there will be crossovers with @NCISLA and @MagnumPICBS and some @HawaiiFive0CBS references!”

Despite strong ratings, Hawaii Five-0 was cancelled due to Alex O’Loughlin, who played Steve McGarrett and Scott Caan who played Danno Williams, contracts expiring.

The option for renegotiation was open to the actors, however, it looks like they wanted to move on from the series as no deal was made.

The series ran for 10 years, from 2010 to 2020, and still has a loyal fanbase.

Fans of the series will have to keep their eyes open for any references to the series when NCIS Hawaii airs.

The new show does present a potential plot hole as it has already been established that Hawaii Five-0 is on the island.

The plot details for NCIS Hawaii are being kept under wraps by CBS with the plot still largely unknown.

Vanessa Lachey will be leading the series as Jane Tennent and will be NCIS’s first female lead.

More details on the series will be revealed in the coming months as filming is currently underway in Hawaii.

NCIS Hawaii will be available to watch on CBS from September 1.
