Piers Morgan eggs on Geoffrey Boycott flirting with Susanna Reid

Piers Morgan was in his element on Good Morning Britain today (24 June) when guest Geoffrey Boycott started flirting with Susanna Reid out of the blue during an interview.

Cricket legend Geoffrey was invited on to discuss the leadership contest in British politics and, in particular, Boris Johnson in light of the police being called to his London flat this weekend following an argument with his girlfriend Carrie Symonds.

But it seemed Geoffrey was more interested in Susanna and her dating life.

Speaking from his home in West Yorkshire, Geoffrey replied when asked for his thoughts on Boris: ‘I don’t know him, I’ve never met him.

‘I don’t really want to know about his personal life.

‘We’ve all had personal problems, we all have them now. If you looked into my life or looked into Susanna’s, my goodness, I bet it’ll be quite interesting.’

Completely stumped by the mention of her personal life, Susanna interrupted: ‘Hang on, how did I suddenly get drawn into it? I’m not running for prime minister.’

With Piers hysterically laughing, Geoffrey explained: ‘People like us in the public eye, we have to accept that. If our life is examined, it’s part of what we are so we’re examining Boris’.

The conversation then turned to more serious matters but Geoffrey couldn’t resist another flirt with Susanna.

When she innocently asked: ‘Fancy running for Prime Minister?’ Geoffrey replied: ‘I’m not a politician. I’m too old love, too old for you Susanna. That’s the problem Susanna.’

Wading in with his big wooden spoon, Piers stirred: ‘I’m not sure about that Geoffrey, she’s quite partial to the older man.’

The 78-year-old cricketer was delighted by this revelation and promised: ‘Oh, I shall have to look into her past.’

It seems Susanna has a date in the diary with Geoffrey as he teased: ‘I told you, when I come in I’m coming for lunch. I want to have lunch with her.’

Trying to wiggle out of the date, Susanna said: ‘Can I let you down slightly Geoffrey Boycott, I know absolutely nothing about cricket.’

But Geoffrey was undeterred and said: ‘I won’t be talking cricket with you Susanna.’

Wisely, Piers tried to move the topic on and weighed in: ‘Let’s try and steer you back to safer waters.’

Poor Susanna.

The TV presenter is actually single though after splitting from boyfriend, Crystal Palace FC chairman, Steve Parish, in April.

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV at 6am.
